CC Beauty Live: Review Session!

Hey there lovelies! I know, I know: CC Beauty Live has been MIA for a little bit as things have been super hectic in my life away from the interwebs. I’m currently couch surfing in New York while finding a place, so I don’t have the means to film. Fortunately for you, we’ve done so many videos that I can do these awesome review sessions!

This video is one of my favorites ever! I love braids. Like almost as much as Thin Mints. Things that I like probably go 1. coffee, 2. Thin Mints, 3. braids. It’s the little things. Anyway, this wrap around French braid is so easy and super cute. It’s perfect for any season, but especially summer since it gets your hair out of your face.

Watch and learn! Let me know how it goes…

Got something you want me to cover? Post it in the comments below. And don’t forget to follow us on YouTube and check out my other videos right here! And for more beauty related tips, check out my website and follow me on Twitter!

    Hi Caitlin,

I'm going to two Summer evening weddings and I was wondering how I should do my hair and makeup. I tend to stick towards the beachy look (golds, neutrals) and I like to wear my hair wavy, but I wanted to do something special for these two events! I would love some feedback!

My hair is thinner in front, so the headband braid never worked for me, but this is perfect! I'm bookmarking this one so I can revisit it again in the future. Thanks, Caitlin!

Yes! Thank you so much. I never thought to stray from brown when it comes to liner. I love the braid trend, too so those hairstyles are good suggestions for me to play around with!

    Thanks, again!

    Hey Caitlin!

Great video as always I will definitely have to try the braid. I kind of have a random question. I while back I remember watching one of your videos and I think I remember you saying you used Accutane for acne? I've had acne/bad skin for about 8 years. :( I've been to 3 derms and have tried all the lotions, washes, creams etc. Now they are thinking of prescribing Accutane but my mom is just concerned with the side effects. I was just wondering how your experience was with it/does it actually work/would you recommend it?

Thanks so much! Keep posting I always look forward to it!! :)

Hi Karen! I've actually been thinking about doing a video or post on that, but I'll give you a rundown. Accutane the actual brand is no longer being prescribed, although the generics like Claravis (which I took) and Sotret are. Everyone experiences different side effects, just like any other medication. The side effects I experienced included sun sensitivity, dry lips, random dry patches on my arms, and dry eyes since I wear contacts. I went through two courses and on the first course, I had a few headaches every now and then and slight joint pain (eased with Fish Oil supplements). However, I didn't have any of that with my second course, so it's really hit or miss. It's generally easier to do a course in the winter months so you're not exposing yourself to a lot of sun.

My biggest suggestion if you're going to do a course is to be prepared. Have a stash of Aquaphor, lotion, vitamins like Fish Oil, Vitamin D, and Biotin (but always ask your derm before you take them!!). It's a long journey, but your derm will monitor your progress and keep up with how things are going. Make sure you're seeing someone who will ask you if you're experiencing side effects every month you go in. The blood tests suck, but that's how they keep your levels in check and make sure you're okay. You can always start off with a lower dosage and work your way up (I never went above 60mg). And if you have bad side effects, you can always stop taking it.

I hope this gave you some helpful information, and if you have any other questions or need support please let me know!!

Thank you sooo much! This is very helpful! Ugh I don't know what I'm going to do. Right now I'm using Retin A and it's kind of working. Now they just prescribed me Tazorac cream . I'm going back to the derm then end of August to see if that worked/possibly start the Accutane generic.

Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it!! :)

You're so welcome! I'm actually on Tazorac right now after my last course, and it's keeping things pretty clear. Retin-A was too much for my sensitive skin, but definitely try out all the options you can before you make a decision. Keep me updated and you can always talk to me if you need to :)
