10 Things I Would Do Over In College

The week before I graduated college, I was tear-soaked. I felt every emotion a graduate could possibly feel. I was excited for the future, relieved to be done with studying and exams, happy for all the new friends I met, but I actually had a little bit of regret in me, too. There are a lot of things I didn’t get to experience in college. As I was walking around campus taking graduation photos during my last week, I saw many high school seniors on campus for orientation. I thought about how lucky they were. They get to come to this place with thousands of possibilities before them, and I hope they take advantage of some of the opportunities I didn’t.
There are some things I’m glad I didn’t do though. I’m glad I wasn’t unsafe when it came to sex. I’m glad I didn’t major in something I hated. I’m glad I never got arrested (although that would make for a fun college story). But if someone told me I could go back and experience college all over again, these are the things I would do differently.

basicly you would like more time to DO stuff than watch tv or browsing the net – welcome in the club
but then we all learn the lesson that we can't do everything, and I would never like to miss out just lounging with my friends instead of taking an extra major, or going to that party…

On the flip side, I am double majoring and absolutely regret it. I was only doing it initially because I didn't want to waste the units when I changed/added my second major. Now that I know what I really want to do I am likely dropping the first major in favor of a minor in the same field. It's just not always worth it!

I wish I would have taken more AP classes and duel enrolled in high school so I wouldn’t have had to spend so much on college. I wish I would have made an effort to get scholarships. I wish I would have joined a sorority, the student activities board, and a million other clubs. I wish I would have listened to my heart and not everyone else’s opinion and changed my major (now I have to go get my master’s in something completely different). I guess we all have regrets.

College was great. There will always be some things I wish I had done, but whenever I start to feel like I did not take advantage of the college life I just contact some friends from college. Although college was not that long ago a quick laugh down memory lane with a fellow alumni and I realize I had the college life I wanted.
