After Romney’s Big Bird and binders full of women comments in the first two presidential debates, I didn’t think the third debate could produce a rival quote. Enter Obama’s sassy retort to Romney’s attack about the size of the Navy. “You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed.” The phrase “horses and bayonets” instantly went viral and became the number one trend on Twitter in the US and the number three trend in the world.
