Halloween Costume Ideas From Your Own Closet [CC Lookbook]

‚ By

Happy almost Halloween everyone!

The way I see it most people approach this holiday in one of two ways. Either they embrace it whole heartedly and pre-order their costume in August. Or they are like me, and they never know what they’re doing or why they’re doing it until five minutes before they have to head out and they still don’t have a costume. But that’s okay! You don’t have to buy it months in advance to have a cool costume. In fact, you don’t have to buy it at all! Below I’ve put together a few different Halloween costumes all made up of everyday clothes that you probably already own.

Wicked Witch

Remember that sparkly, velvet or bedazzled dress you bought for that New Year’s party that one time and haven’t worn since? Pull it out of the closet, dust it off, and put it to work!  This is the beginning of your glittery, good witch costume. Pair it with fishnet tights, black heels or boots and, of course, a witch hat. Purple lipstick and a deep nail polish color will add the finishing touches.

Like a Virgin

Remember that tutu-esque skirt you thought was just too cute to resist, or that corset top you’ve worn once, maybe twice? Now is the time to bring them into the spotlight. Madonna style. This one is all about the accessories, so pull out your over the top heels, a velvet bow, and layers upon layers of pearl necklaces. Then pick up so lace, fingerless gloves to finish the outfit off. Tease your hair 80s style and you’re all set.

If you’re not into exposing a lot of skin on Halloween you can still look super cute, and just a little bit sexy with this nerd costume. Pair a white button down, with the top few buttons open, with a sweater vest and some skinny jeans. Don’t have a sweater vest? Borrow a bow tie and some suspenders from one of your guy friends. Then add some nerd-chic fashion glasses and a pair of high heeled (or flat) loafers. If you feel like really getting into character you can even swap out the denim for a plaid skirt.

Vintage Glamour

Grab a pair of those colored shorts you bought this summer (preferably red or blue) or get yourself a pair of high waisted denim ones, and pair it with a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a knot tied at the waist, however high or low you’d like. Pair that with some cat eye sunglasses, a red lip, classic curls, your tallest pair of pumps, and wham, bam, thank you ma’am, you’re the epitome of 1950s pinup.

What do you think?
