What It Is:

Make Up For Ever Black Tango Palette

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:

Make Up For Ever is a brand known for creating professional quality products for the public. Their Aqua range, featuring everything from cream shadows to eyeliners to lip products, is great for gals who can’t re-apply their makeup throughout the day or are loyal to waterproof products.

The Black Tango Palette was inspired by Dany Sanz’s love for Argentine Tango and features four gorgeous Aqua Creams in Black with Red Highlights, Black with Green Highlights, Black with Blue Highlights, Ivory and a double-ended brush. Even thought they’re marketed as a cream shadow, I find Aqua Creams to be dual-purposed and use them as both an eyeshadow and eyeliner!

How To Use It:

For everyday, I prefer to use Ivory as an all-over lid wash and the three black-based shades as liners. However, the three darker shades also make spectacular bases for a smoky look!

The quality of the Aqua Creams in this kit are almost on-par with the regular range. I say almost because the Red and Green shades were both a little patchy, as I’m sure you can see in the swatches. The Blue and Ivory were both great in terms of consistency, coverage and opacity; exactly what I’ve come to expect for the Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams! The brush is of surprisingly good quality and is stiff enough to apply cream eye shadows with ease. Both sides are the same, which is nice for travel. You can reserve one side for the Ivory and one for the black-based shades.

I’m not sure about how useful this palette would be to the average gal. Sure, it comes with some gorgeous cream shadow/liners, but I see this as more of a collector’s item rather than a practical piece. The fan detail and inspiration are super cool and I really appreciate all the thought that went into the palette, however, I think I would have liked to see more of a balance between light and dark shades. Perhaps another base like Ivory to make it even? This is just my opinion and doesn’t reflect on the quality of the product, but just food for thought!

If you’re all about the smoky eye or have an obsession with cream eyeliners, you’re definitely going to want to pick up the Make Up For Ever Black Tango Palette, a Sephora exclusive, for $45.
