J.K. Rowling’s book The Casual Vacancy is set to be adapted into a TV series by UK broadcaster BBC. Rowling claims she is pleased with BBC’s decision to pick-up her storytelling, insisting the book is best modeled for television. The series is currently set to begin airing in 2014, and Rowling will work closely with TV producers on the project.
The book, which was released in September, has a different feel from her famous Harry Potter series. The Casual Vacancy was written for the adult audience and focuses on themes such as social class and politics. Rowling herself describes the book as a ‘comic tragedy’.

I’ll be looking forward to see how the TV series portrays J.K. Rowling’s latest novel, especially with the extreme success of the Harry Potter movie franchise inspired by her books. Have you read the book? Which actors do you think should be cast in the starring roles?
