You guys remember that movie, “The Wedding Date” starring Debra Messing? She is invited to her sister’s wedding and needs a date because her younger sister is marrying her ex’s best friend, so she’s like obviously bound to run into the man that broke her heart. She needs a date quick because she has to prove that she really can “have it all.” So she hires the sexy Dermont Mulroney and they fall in love. It’s actually totally adorable and they dance to Micheal Buble in it, so yeah. Anyway, that is real life in Japan.

Apparently, you can rent a “boyfriend” in Japan for $364 US dollars. You can also rent girlfriends. The premise? Sometimes people just want warm bodies to sleep next to. So you call up this company and a member of their “cast” can perform certain duties, but they can’t sleep with you or kiss you. Essentially you’re paying, like, $400 dollars to sleep next to someone. I don’t know about you but the only reason I can stand sleeping next to someone is because I have an actual emotional attachment to them. Otherwise, I’d just like to…ya know..sleep and not worry about getting hit in the face by uncontrollable limbs.

There’s a multitude of things you can get these men to do like clean your house (as long as it’s not uncomfortable) and take them on dates (as long as you pay). There’s even a date package which includes a trip for two to Tokyo Disney for, like, $800. If you want to specify which cast member you want to spend the night with it’s an extra $24 dollars. I mean…I can’t help but think this is borderline prostitution. Although sex is explicitly forbidden, I can’t imagine these men aren’t getting some and keeping their mouths shut. Am I right or am I right?

So I mean, if you’re lonely, I’d say go for it.
