The Time I Got in An Argument With A CollegeCandy Commenter
Hi. I’m Molly and I have a problem. It’s a problem that has plagued me my entire life, and it’s this: I can’t keep my mouth shut. I like to think of myself as a more realistic kind of super hero. I stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves and, more often than not, I stand up for myself.
As you may or may not know, I wrote an article a little while back called “10 Annoying Things Guys Do in Bed” and for some reason people freaking hated it. I’m not here to defend the whole article because I still think it’s funny, but to prove I’m not a cold-hearted b*tch, I wrote “12 Amazing Things Guys Do In Bed”. Well, commenter “Billie Jean” had a major problem with my article. And yes, it took everything in me not to make some creepy Micheal Jackson joke when replying to his comments condemning me for voicing an opinion as a joke.
Here are the things you need to know about “Billie Jean”. He is commenting anonymously, using a fake name, and he is a man. While we at CollegeCandy are all for diversity, I can’t help but wonder what a man is doing on a website called CollegeCandy leaving hateful comments for girls who just wanna have fun. It could be that he stumbled here from one of our partner sites, however, obviously his opinion isn’t going to represent the majority on a website written by and for college girls. He has so clearly taken offense to an article that wasn’t targeted at him in the first place, and I will never understand why people get so mad about things on the internet. I mean, seriously, if it annoyed you, just close out of the page, right?
But that’s not the point. Fellow women and feminists everywhere, my point to him was that my article about the things boys do that bother me in bed was all in jest.
This was one of his many responses (can be seen nested under the top comment on the 10 Most Annoying Things post):
My response? WHAT THE HELL BRO. Seriously. Maybe women are “so good in the kitchen” because we can take the heat? Perhaps you need to take that chip off your shoulder and go cry to someone else. I don’t know why you are so offended, and feel the need to cut women down. Slut shaming and blatant sexism are not cool and I hope you live a very fulfilled life alone.
