Alright, I’m not going to go into the entire backstory of the LeAnn Rimes/Eddie Cibrian saga because I’m frankly quite bored with the whole thing. We get it. You fell in love on the set of a Lifetime original movie and had an affair, but it’s totes okay because you ended up together and got married and now your lives are a real Lifetime flick. Whatever.
So the affair happened in 2009. It’s almost 2013. I’m really tired of them doing everything in their power to keep this story in the spotlight, and I hate that it works! I feel like I’m trapped in another publicity stunt conspiracy. LeAnn has said several times that she doesn’t regret the affair and blah, blah, blah, laxatives. Even though I think Brandi Glanville is a crazy-face, I still think it’s pretty shitty that this scandal gets thrown in her face all the time. And because Eddie and Brandi have kids together, she has to deal with seeing LeAnn all.the.time. There have been several instances with LeAnn calling them her own kids. Like, lay off the bath salts, okay?
ANYWAY. LeAnn has a new album coming out in 2013 called Spitfire. And her second single is called Borrowed. And it’s about her affair with Eddie. And it features lyrics like this:
I know you’re not mine, only borrowed
Cause you already belong to her, at least you said so
But I’m starting to believe it ain’t the whole truth
As we’re lying side by side, I get the whole you
I Wanna hold out, but gotta hold on,
Even though I know it’s wrong
Cause I don’t want to give you back
I don’t want to give you back
You’re the best I’ll never have
So I don’t want to give you back
But you’re borrowed
And she says it was super emotional for her to write this, which in all seriousness I’m sure it was. But I hate that this is like a cheating anthem. We are not involved in their situation, and LeAnn and Eddie do seem totally in love. I just really can’t stand that she wrote a song about it for the public. Write the song for Eddie and yourself, but why put it out if you claim you want people to move past the affair? I don’t know, maybe so people will actually keep talking about it so you stay relevant?
I think there are other ways to move on from your cheating scandal. Like not writing a song about it. And like not talking about it in interviews anymore. But that’s just me.
What do you think about LeAnne Rimes’ new song? Do you think she should have written it for her album? Other thoughts?
