“Love Is Drugging Your Brain and Making You Cray!” Says Science

Carrie Bradshaw once said, “Maybe all men are a drug. Sometimes they bring you down and sometimes, like now, they get you so high.” Turns out, that’s actually a thing, not just clever HBO script writing.

There’s a hormone called dopamine and it gets released during the initial stages of a relationship. It’s what makes you feel all nauseated and “in love”, and it fully operates like cocaine. Once your body releases dopamine, you crave it like a drug, which is why you want to spend all of your time surrounded by your boyfriend…he causes the dopamine in your system. It can get kind of cray and make us ladies do ridiculous things like cry for no reason and…uh…stuff.

If humans only operated on their hormones alone, sh*t would get real, and quickly. We’d all be running around like love-sick goons. But YourTango has some tips so that you don’t let that dopamine rush go to your head, literally.

I have never understood the word “Cray” unless it comes before the word fish! Would you care to explain it?
