What It Is:
Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation in 117
Why This Should Be in Your Bag:
When Make Up For Ever announced they were releasing a new foundation formula, I almost jumped out of my seat with excitement! MUFE Foundations are amazing and this new formula, Pro Finish, has a special bonus: the coverage is customizable! It comes in a powder compact, and you can apply it as a powder foundation with the included puff OR you can apply it wet for a “satin” finish. These different application methods actually change the coverage (sheer to full) so I couldn’t wait to try out this versatile new product.
How To Use It:
Like I said, you have two options with this foundation: wet or dry. MUFE actually has fairly detailed instructions for each application method, so I’m going to let them explain.
For matte finish with full coverage (apply dry):
-Using the sponge or Foundation Kabuki Brush, apply powder starting on the cheeks and nose, moving toward the chin.
-Apply powder across the forehead, moving outward toward the temples and down the sides of the face.
-Repeat for additional coverage as needed.
For satin finish with sheer coverage (apply wet):
-Thoroughly wet sponge and wring out excess water.
-In a circular motion, evenly saturate the surface of the powder.
-Apply over the center of the cheeks and nose, moving toward the chin.
-Apply to the center of the forehead, moving outward toward the temples and down the sides of the face.
-For additional coverage, apply Pro Finish dry after wet application is complete.
CC Rating: A-
The new Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation from MUFE is an exciting and innovative product. I really like that you have two options for wear. I, like most foundation-wearers I know, drift between liquid and powder, depending on the condition of my skin, the weather, etc. I also think this will be great for jetsetters, as again, it’s a two-in-one housed in a compact. No need to worry about your expensive (or not so expensive) liquid foundations exploding in your makeup case! As far as coverage, applying this dry yielded a medium coverage and applying wet resulted in a sheer to light coverage.
Personally, when I applied the foundation wet, I didn’t like how it felt on my face. I used to dance and it reminded me of the heavy pancake makeup we used to have to apply in the same fashion. It also made my sensitive skin itch slightly when applied wet, but interestingly, not when dry. I can definitely see myself wearing this as a powder foundation more often than wet. Also, I found the color darkened slightly when applied wet, which isn’t great for me as I’m barely a 117. These are both more personal opinions than faults of the product, but I did want to share my whole experience.
If the new Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Foundation is up your alley, it is available from Sephora for $36 USD/$42CAD.
