Remember American Idol co-host Brian Dunkleman? Remember Brian and Ryan? Well, there he is. According to Too Fab, “Dunkleman left the show after Season One — and would later admit to regretting his decision. He still does stand up in the Los Angeles area.” Bummer.

This list is mostly depressing. Very few of the stars on American Idol ever went onto do very much. Although, there’s a pretty good reason why. I know someone, who knows someone that was a contestant on American Idol who got very far. The trouble was that even if you don’t win you sign a contract that forbids you from taking on any work as a singer for at least five years. So, when you’re as famous as can be, all those broadway offers, record deals and opportunities that come along – you’re not allowed to take them.  See how the rest of the cast faired out.

    Has the contract rule always been there? Because I remember stars from the show doing stuff as soon as it was done. Justin Guarini, Kimberly Locke, Clay Aiken, Diana DeGarmo, Bo Bice, Katherine McPhee, heck Adam Lambert. They all came out with CDs or musical movies, etc that were NOT at least 5 years later and none of them won the competition.

    ^—— She's right. Even last seasons Jessica Sanchez has a deal with Interscope Records currently. Seems like this article wasn't well researched and just thrown together….
