Woman Says She’s Had the Same Song Stuck in Her Head for Three Years [WTF Friday]

I am that person who starts singing an annoying song, and soon it’s stuck in all my friends’ heads (you’re very welcome BFFs!). However, eventually they forget the song I’ve implanted into their minds. But, imagine if an annoying song never left….

What would you do if the same song played over and over and over again in your ears? That’s supposedly what is happening to Susan Root, a 63-year-old custodian, who recently told the British Press that she had developed “an extremely rare form of tinnitus that causes her to hear songs in her head on an endless loop, even when none are playing in the background.”

If you’re wondering, Susan has been stuck listening to Patti Page’s rendition of “How Much is that Doggie in the Window,” “God Save the Queen,” “Happy Birthday,” and “Auld Land Syne,” for the last three years.

Root said that her medical condition, actually called “musical hallucination,” has made her life a living hell and she has trouble getting to sleep most nights. She was given a hearing aid in an attempt to relieve her problems but it was no use. I wonder what a hearing aid could do for a medical condition called, “musical HALLUCINATION…” Maybe a hearing aid stops her from…hallucinating?
After reading this, the real question is…are any other songs ever going to be added to her playlist anytime soon? If you had to listen to one song over and over again for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tell me below!
