15 Male Actors Who Dropped And Gained Pounds For Roles

It’s always a strange act, to me, when a celebrity loses or gains weight for a role to illustrate their commitment. Honestly, if Christian Bale played Batman looking the way he normal did, I wouldn’t think, “He isn’t buff enough to play Batman!” If I can suspend my disbelief enough to accept that a man dressed like a bat goes around fighting crime, then a guy with a six pack instead of a twelve pack won’t shatter that fantasy. I mean, no one had a problem with Adam West’s initial portrayal of Batman. On the flip side, there is something to be said about actors who go through extreme measures to learn about and embrace the characters that they play. Hopefully this kind of dieting doesn’t take a negative toll on their bodies.

Donnie Wahlberg lost 43 pounds for the sixth sense.

Ryan Gosling was NOT in The Lovely Bones. Wasn't a lead, wasn't supporting, didn't even make a cameo.
Stanley Tucci played the bad guy though…if thats who you were thinking…because they're soooooo similar *facepalm*

Before you keep palming your face, perhaps a quick Google search will reveal that Ryan Gosling was cast and believed his character should have been 210 pounds, so he gained the weight. The director however did not believe his character should look that way, so the two parted ways. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/ryan-gosling-
