So everyone always talks about the “song of the summer,” and how they are the anthems for partying, fun, young love, and having a genuinely good time. I am all for that. But sometimes the songs that we (radio stations, money people, ya know…) choose these songs that while catchy, make no damn sense. Party Rock Anthem, anyone? What’s the deal with that? They have good beats, and people can shake their butts to it, but does it have a greater message? Or is just a song about drinking a lot of alcohol and getting laid?
I’m going with the latter.
That’s why I am obsessed with the song, “The Fox” sang by Ylvis. Ylvis is actually brothers Vegard and Bård Ylvisåker, a comedy duo with a popular late-night talk show on Norwegian television. They two have a reputation for integrating hilarious music videos with their guest interviews and sketches. This video pokes so much fun at songs like “I’m Sexy and I Know It” and “Get Lucky” and UGH “Gangam Style”. And it makes me appreciate irony so much more.
Because this song is catchy!
“The Fox” basically tells a listener the numerous noises that various animals make, but is completely stumped when it comes to the noises that a fox makes! The video for the song has over 6 million likes on YouTube. Did I mention this is all to a techno-dance beat with a dubstep bass drop in there? It’s just an all around good time. It’s goofy, but who doesn’t like a good laugh every now and then? Check it out below!
