Woman Makes 300 Sandwiches For BF In Exchange for Engagement Ring
Stephanie Smith, a reporter for the New York Post is embarking on a conquest fit for Man v. Food. However, she won’t be the one indulging in the goods, she’ll be the one getting down in the kitchen. Her boyfriend, Eric Schulte, dangled a proposal in front of her face — as long as she made him 300 sandwiches.
Every morning Schulte would ask why she had been up and neglected to make him a sandwich. First red flag. One day Smith gave in and decided to cater to her man. He enjoyed the sandwich so much that he made an unusual request. “Honey, you’re 300 sandwiches away from an engagement ring.” Pump the brakes.
Excuse me? I have to make you 300 sandwiches for you to marry me? Or more importantly, if I never graced the kitchen with my immaculate sandwich skills, would you ever think to propose?
“Maybe I needed to show him I could cook to prove that I am wife material,” Smith proclaimed in her New York Post article about her unusual quest to an engagement. Smith started a blog entitled 300 Sandwiches that would showcase each sandwich that would get her closer to her husband. “I am a woman who loves her man, but also never backs down from a challenge. If he wants three hundred sandwiches, then I’ll deliver.”
I’m totally for catering to a man, but once I’m certain of his sexual preference. The couple was interviewed on the TODAY Show and Schulte looked a little more than questionable (video here). I can’t help but feel as though Stephanie is going to waste those 300 sandwiches on a man who will never be ready to marry her. They may just be sandwiches but Smith has this down to a science. “Ten sandwiches or so in, I did the math. Three sandwiches a week, times four weeks a month, times 12 months a year, meant I wouldn’t be done until I was deep into my 30s.” I’m just not sure I could commit to that when her potential fiance’s lipgloss is popping and his hair is reminiscent of a lace front wig.
Smith is 124 sandwiches away from her ring. If it doesn’t work out, at least she created a killer blog.
