I don’t know about you, but my wedding day has been on my mind since I turned 15. I mean every single detail is planned… except for the husband part, but that’s not the point. So when I saw this video of a man named Ryan Leak and his girlfriend Amanda Roman, my mind was kind of blown. Apparently Amanda and Ryan dated for five years and after all that time together Ryan finally decided that it was time to pop the question. But here’s the catch, Amanda wanted to be proposed to and married on the same day, I have no idea why, but the woman got what she asked for.
Using Amanda’s Pinterest, Ryan planned her dream proposal and wedding, for the same day, without her knowledge. I mean, it’s a sweet but I would be super pissed if I didn’t get to plan my own wedding. Another thing that kind of blew my mind, was that Ryan had never said I love you to Amanda until the day he proposed to her. I don’t know about you but if I was dating someone for five years I would not be okay with them never saying I love you. He had his reasons though, he said he wanted to say it when he knew he meant it wholeheartedly and unequivocally, but still, that wouldn’t fly with me.
Now I don’t want to seem like a hater or anything but I just think you have to be a super bold and super confident boyfriend to try and pull all of this off, and as for the girlfriend you have to be EXTREMELY laid back. It’s not like planning a surprise party, or some 4th of July BBQ, this is your wedding day! I think it’s crazy that she literally did nothing for her own wedding day and wasn’t upset about it.
I’m not going to lie, when I watched the video I did cry, there was two parts that go to me. The first scene where I shed a tear was after the proposal when he led her to a banquet hall and she was greeted by everyone she loved. I mean her mom, her dad, her whole family and a bunch of friends were there to witness one of the happiest days of her life, and you could literally see the joy and love in her eyes. It was a tear-jerker. Now the only other thing that got to me was their pastors speech. They are both highly religious so they made sure that God was incorporated in their ceremony. I’m not a religious person but those words that the pastor spoke, the happiness he wished for them, the future children he prayed for, and the joy he bestowed upon them, sort of blew my mind.
Amanda seemed like the happiest bride in the world, she had everything and every one she wanted there and it worked out great for them. I just think personally I would have felt robbed of planning my special day, and robbed of that time before the wedding of anticipation, and planning, and excitement, but that’s just me. Though I have now officially decided that I want to be engaged and have my engagement party on the same day! Now that I would love, and would find sweet, but my fiance can stop planning after that.
At the end of the day, they were happy and that’s all that really mattered.
