Actually, that’s a lie. I do have words, but they’re all pretty much wide-eyed half thoughts like “OMG” and “Gahh!” and “It’s…so…pretty!”
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a biased audience. Wes Anderson first captured my heart with Rushmore, and then again with The Royal Tenenbaums because, good lord, Luke Wilson in that sweatband. When it was announced that Anderson would be releasing his seventh studio film in 2014, my opinion was that it was going to be excellent. And I didn’t even know the plot. Like I said, just a full disclosure there.
Today, however, the first trailer for that film, “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, has been released and we all finally have something to sink our teeth into. While my excitement is no longer blind, it hasn’t wavered in the slightest. Anderson recruited an all-star cast that includes Ralph Fiennes in the starring role, alongside Bill Murray, Saoirse Ronan, Jude Law, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman and so many other familiar faces.
The film tells the story of a concierge (Ralph Fiennes) at a famous European hotel and a lobby boy (newcomer Tony Revolori) who becomes one of his most trusted friends. The plot continues to unfold when Fiennes’ character is accused of murdering one of the hotel’s guests.
In classic Wes Anderson form, you can expect to see a beautiful set design, quirky characters and an overdose of Futura. It’s set to hit theaters March 7th, 2014.
