Do you hear that?
Sounds like wedding bells are in store for reality star Kim Kardashian and self-proclaimed genius Kanye West. A huge congratulations are in order for the two, who also welcomed baby North West in June.
This will be the 33-year-old’s third time down the aisle.
It doesn’t seem to be by coincidence that all of her beau’s have steadily increased in the hierarchy of fame. With each husband, more grandeur surrounded the engagement. Maybe too much emphasis is placed on the engagement and not enough on the marriage, Kim?
Nineteen-year-old Kim eloped to Las Vegas with 29 year-old music producer Damon Thomas. Not much romance in that engagement, but then again there didn’t seem to be much romance in that marriage either. After three years of marriage, Kim could no longer take his possessive ways. Allegedly, Thomas was gifting Kim with funds and forced her to get liposuction because she needed to be “perfect.” If that wasn’t enough allegations of domestic abusive surfaced soon after the divorce. The two were married for three years.
I don’t blame you Kim, you should’ve let that one go.
Just two years ago, Kim thought she kissed enough frogs to land her with her prince. In true Kardashian style, the proposal was filmed on a season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians (see below). Kris Humphries adorned Kim’s bedroom with candles and flowers spelling out “Will you marry me?” This was definitely a step up from eloping to Vegas, but even the thoughtful proposal and elaborate wedding couldn’t save a marriage without love.
4.4 million viewers tuned in to watch Kim exchange vows, and 72 days later, it was all over.
Before her divorce from Humphries was final, Kim had embarked on a new journey with close friend Kanye West. After he released “Theraflu” there was no denying their relationship. “I’ll admit, I fell in love with Kim, ’round the same time she had fell in love wit’ him.” After loads of PDA and appearances on Kim’s reality series, the two announced in December that they were expecting. Once Kim gave birth to North, the public began to wonder when Kanye would pop the question.
After the televised proposal from Humphries, there was no way that Kanye could be upstaged. Shutting down the AT&T stadium in San Franciso, Kanye arranged for a 50-piece orchestra to play “Knock You Down,” his collaboration with Keri Hilson and Lana Del Ray’s “Young and Beautiful.” The Jumbotron read “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” and the 15 carat ring was the cherry on top of a completely cheesy night.
Even if he had to make sure he was the most corny, he did so to please his woman. Only time will tell on the West saga.
