I think it’s safe to say that we all know deep down that starting a “friends with benefits” relationship is pretty much always a bad idea. At the beginning, it’s all awesome because we get to have sex on the reg without having the added pressures of a real relationship. It’s noncommittal and easy. What’s better than that, right?
Here’s the problem: once you start having an intimate relationship with someone you like, it’s natural to eventually really liking that person. This is when things get really complicated. This is when things get messy, and people end up getting hurt.
Let’s just get this out there: it’s really rare for a full-on friends with benefits arrangement to get serious. Once a guy sees that he can get what he wants without having to really do anything back for you, it’s hard for him to change the way he sees the relationship he has with you. If he really wanted to date you, he would have just dated you. However, there are still the hopefuls out there who believe that a serious relationship can rise from the wreckage of a failed FWB situation!
