Artist Rino Stefano Tagliafierro took around 100 classical paintings and brought them to life using the 2.5D effect. Basically they are really awesome, slightly creepy animated GIFs. Tagliafierro says, :These images which the history of art has consigned to us as frozen movement can today come back to life thanks to the fire of digital invention.”
I’m not sure if this technique takes away or adds to the images but it certainly gives them a different affect. They all seem a lot more creepy and ominous this way. Maybe it’s the lingering feeling of not knowing or knowing exactly what is going to happen next.
Maybe it’s because the artist chose creepy images, anyway check out side-by-side comparisons of the originals next to the moving pictures.
