Well the horribly sad news just keeps on coming. One of the greatest actors of our time, Phillip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment this morning, law enforcement sources said Sunday. Hoffman was 46.
A screenwriter allegedly called 911 after he came into Hoffman’s apartment and found the actor unresponsive on his bathroom floor. While no one has said anything official on the cause of death, rumors are swirling that drugs and alcohol may have been involved. It was reported that Hoffman went to a drug rehab facility last May for his substance abuse problems, including heroin.
Hoffman was an accomplished actor and director, who won the Academy Award for best actor for his role as famed author Truman Capote the 2005 film Capote. My personal favorite role of Hoffman’s was his quick but memorable appearance in Almost Famous.
He will definitely be missed, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
