The Fifty Shades of Grey movie might not be hitting theaters for public consumption until February 13, 2015, but a private audience at CinemaCon got a sneak peak at what the cast has been working on. According to Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley, “Nobody outside the studio [had] seen a frame of footage” prior to today.
The movie trailer included the infamous “Mr. Grey will see you now” scene where Anastasia interviews Christian at Grey Enterprises for her college paper and another where Christian comes to visit Ana at the hardware store where she works. When it came to the more risque material, the studio only teased a scene where Ana’s in the Red Room of Pain wearing a black blindfold.
The general consensus among those who saw the trailer is that the movie seems to focus more on the romantic relationship between the two characters than the erotic aspects the book series is so known for.
Could it be that the over-the-top sex scenes everyone’s been speculating on won’t even be included in the movie? I can only imagine how disappointed fans of the book will be if they sit through the cinematic version of Fifty Shades only to realize it bears closer resemblance to The Notebook than their beloved erotic fiction series.
