Trying to maximize your workouts in the little time you have? It can be tough to stay on track and motivated, especially when our lives are in transition: summer break, graduation, starting a new job, beginning freshman year of college (oh, how I envy you) – all these things come to mind, and put added stress on keeping up with our fitness plans.
Because everyone has difficulty staying motivated at some point in time, it’s important to have a plan of action, a strategy (or two) to keep you on track and focused on fitness when its time for a workout, even when life’s craziness ensues! Set a Goal Before You Start From a strength training perspective, your workout may call for a certain amount of reps or simply as you to max out with as many as possible during a set period of time. But regardless, always have a number in mind for each exercise. This will help discredit the voice in your head that tells you to stop and instead allow you expand the limits of your fitness by safely and progressively challenging your body. Be realistic, selecting a goal based on your previous experience with the exercise so you don’t push it too far too soon. And this can be extended to any type of workout. Set a goal to beat your best performance, or try something new and different to see how well you do with it!
