Lucy Hale told MTV about her Fifty Shades of Grey audition, “Let’s just say I don’t want my grandmother watching that audition tape. It was awkward.” While Lucy is 25 years old IRL, unlike the high school gal, Aria, she plays on Pretty Little Liars, she certainly looks convincingly youthful and it would have been kind of odd to see her go all s&m. Although my expectations for the movie is kind of low, after all they decided to condense all three novels into one film.
Lucy continued, “It actually was just me [in the audition]. It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be. “Very uncomfortable, but it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you’re just gonna look lame — hopefully, I didn’t look lame.”
She said it was like “unlike any audition I have ever done before in my life,” and that she “didn’t want her grandmother watching.” That actually gets me excited for the movie. If the actor was THAT uncomfortable, then it’s probably going to be weeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiird. Yas.
The reasoning behind Lucy’s audition, “I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it. Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky and doing something a little different than my character on ‘PLL’ so it took me out of my comfort zone.” I’d like to see all of the Liars step out of the ABC confines a little. They have each have the potential to be great actresses and usually people don’t live up to their full potential unless they are given the opportunity to demonstrate it.
More risque and dramatic roles for all the Liars, please.
