I am of the belief that “extra 40 percent off” are the most beautiful words in the English language, provided that they’re strung together in that order. Luckily, there are a few places that routinely plaster that exact phrase towards the tops of their websites. I’ve found that it’s almost silly to shop anything full price from certain brands, stores and sites because they offer amazing deals so often. And really, isn’t it psychologically more fun to buy a $40 dress that’s 50% off than it is to buy a $20 one?
Piperlime:Oh, Piperlime. How I love you and your frequent emails. They don’t bother me at all because they’re usually cluing me in to an “extra 25% off all dresses” promo or something equally yummy. I love a good Piperlime sale because they stock so many different brands. Whether you like preppy stuff, girly numbers or edgy outfits, you will probably find something you like here. And you’ll probably be able to score it less than full price. I’ll be waiting patiently until this bright and beautiful dress gets slashed.
J. Crew: The trick to shopping at J. Crew? Wait until it goes on sale. Case in point – the site is currently offering an extra 40% off all final sale styles. Pretty sweet, right? My favorite way to take advantage of this? By stocking up on J. Crew’s gorgeous jewelry.
Gap: True story: I once scored great-fitting boyfriend jeans from Gap for a mere $14. How did I do this? By taking advantage on the store’s sale selection….on a day when they were offering an extra 40% of on all sale items. The great thing is, they happen to offer this pretty regularly.
Madewell: Madewell’s stuff is amazing but it ain’t cheap. Luckily, if you shop the sale section, you can score some seriously great basics for a reasonable price. They often slash sale items by 20, 30, even 40 percent.
CUSP: Neiman Marcus’ contemporary section is stocked with not-exactly-cheap pieces….luckily, they often offer an extra 25% their sale section, which is both large and filled with great items. It’s a really amazing way to get items from brands like Joie and DVF for way less than retail. And let’s face it: a large percentage off an expensive item is better than a large discount on a cheap one.
