The cause of death was noted as suicide by asphyxiation, according to authorities. Williams’ publicist
said he had been battling depression as of late.
Williams is known for roles such as John Keating in Dead Poet’s Society, Aladdin, Patch Adams, Flubber, Good Will Hunting, which landed him an oscar, and many more.
Susan Schneider, Williams’ wife, issued a statement to New York Times Reporter Dave Itzkoff in the wake of this terrible news:
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin’s death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
