After Emma Watson was perfectly cast as Belle in the upcoming live-action musical Beauty and the Beast film, we’re anxious to find out who will play the other important roles. One spot, that of the egotistical Gaston, has been filled.
Emma Watson tweeted her congratulations to confirm that Luke Evans will play the handsome villain.

Rumors are that Eddie Redmayne passed on the role. While I’m crying that Marius won’t be revived, Luke seems to have pretty good qualifications. The 35-year-old Welsh actor has appeared in big movies such as The Hobbit, The Three Musketeers, and Fast & Furious and also has plenty of credits in musical theater, so it looks like he might be perfect for the role. Emma Thompson is also rumored to be part of the film as Mrs. Potts. Like I said, perfect casting.
Beauty and the Beast isn’t the only live-action movie Disney is working on. Cinderella comes out this month and a live-action version of The Jungle Book is also in the works. See? Fairy tales aren’t just animated.
