A decade after the original Step Up stole our hearts and made us want to become dancers, a scripted TV show is being created, according to Deadline. The entire Step Up franchise was so successful that of course, we needed more of the steamy dancing on our screens and we’re not complaining.
The show is described as a “heart-pounding, sexy, music-filled drama about dancers in a contemporary performing arts school.” As if it’s not already important, the TV show holds even more significance because it will be YouTube’s first big-budget original series. Production will begin later this year and will be live on YouTube Red on 2017. If you can’t live without seeing this show next year, make sure to get your subscription in order before it airs.
The series will be produced by the one and only Step Up couple, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, themselves. Hopefully, these two love birds will come to their senses and give the audience what they want — a cameo or two.
It seems Tatum and Dewan have their hands full though. Three months ago, NBC ordered six episodes of the dance competition series that would star Dewan and have Tatum appear. The duo will also produce the show. And we’ll be watching all of it.
