Asking your parents to get you tampons can be super embarrassing, especially when you’re an awkward pre-teen just kicking off puberty. But not for this mother-daughter duo. Arkansas mom Belinda Hankins posted photos of a text exchange between her and her teenage daughter when she took her to get tampons at a local Walmart on Saturday evening. They’ve since gone viral because they are pure gold.
It started off with the confusion we’ve all felt: where the hell are the tampons?
Seriously, why are feminine hygiene products so hard to find? This 13-year-old and her mom clearly have the answer. Which of course leads to a text rant:
Definitely wishing those laser estrogen beams were a thing. But it doesn’t stop there. What does a woman do when “society is controlled by men” ?
SMASH THE PATRIARCHY. She even drew a picture.
“THIS was the highlight of my parenting week. Sending my 13-year-old daughter into the store for (whispers) “feminine hygiene products,” and having the following text exchange,” Hankins wrote on the Facebook post. “I died, she gave me life, I died again. And she drew an illustration, on the spot, ON HER PHONE, to drive her point home.” The post has gotten over 60,000 shares and thousands of likes, but Hankins wrote in a follow-up post that she’s also gotten messages from Internet trolls (aka the scum of the earth) who are questioning her parenting skills.
But when your daughter is so confident and cool that she lets her texts about tampons go on Facebook, you’re clearly doing something right.
