Angelina Jolie is the only woman making the big bucks playing action heroes these days. Her role in Salt, which was originally written for Tom Cruise, banked $300 million on a budget of $110 million. In April of 2011, Jolie signed on to be the new face of Louis Vuitton, in a deal worth nearly $10 million. In Touch magazine reported Jolie and Brad Pitt spend nearly $10 million a year on kids, which is about $9.9 million more than the average human.
But now that the couple is splitting, and Jolie isn’t asking for spousal support, she’ll be the one shouldering all the costs of her six children. Considering she earns between 7 million and 15 million dollars per movie and makes one or two films a year, and Pitt himself is worth $240 million, the divorce won’t be a battle for cash.
Angelina Jolie Net Worth as of 2016: $200 Million
2001 – 2005
Angelina Jolie burst onto the scene as Lara Croft in 2001. In Tomb Raider alone, she banked a good $7 million. Two years later, in the second installment of Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, she received a 70% raise, earning a whopping $12 million.
The high-kicks and sexy gun fighting continue in the 2005 action film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where she starred opposite former husband Brad Pitt. Being the bombshell that she is on and off screen, Jolie earned $10 million for playing Mrs. Smith, leaving the real Mrs. Pitt (Jennifer Aniston) nowhere to turn but divorce.
2006 – 2010
Jolie gave birth to their first child, Shiloh in May 2006. Little Shiloh made her rich daddy and mommy even richer from royalties of her baby pictures, which totaled $4 million. But Jolie later donated the money to charity.
That same year, Jolie’s role in The Good Shepard earned her a salary of $10 million. The following year, Jolie did Beowulf for $8 million, and A Mighty Heart for $10 million.
In 2008, she made $15 million from Wanted. In the same year, she also received $14 million in royalties from a magazine deal for exclusive rights to the first pictures of twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline which was later used to setup a Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation (MJP).
Salt in 2010, earned her a staggering salary of $20 million, followed The Tourist, which shelled out $19 million to have her play.
She bought a house with Brad Pitt for $1.7 million in Los Angeles, a modest purchase considering the duo’s earning powers. Even with the divorce, this property is hardly something to fight over.
2011 – 2016
However, things weren’t always rosy in the life of Jolie. Her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey was both a critical and box office failure. With a budget of $13 million, the movie grossed a paltry $1.1 million.
Jolie bounced back by continuing to lend her voice to Tigress in Kung Fu Panda 2, and earned a salary of $1 million for her role. In the meantime, she signed a contract to be the new face of Louis Vuitton for $10 million. In 2015, Jolie reported earning $15 million from Maleficient.
She finally married Brad Pitt in 2014, and royalties from their wedding photos alone earned $5 million, which they donated to charity. A year later, the couple purchased a seaside villa in Turkey for $2.7 million.
Unfortunately, that seaside villa won’t be seeing much more of Brangelina.
