A middle-aged man from North Palm Beach, Florida, was arrested after allegedly calling 911 to complain that his mother refused to give him money for a meal at IHOP.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Gerald Anderson, 52, was taken to jail on Tuesday for misusing the 911 system. Anderson has dispatched officers to his house at least 15 times in the last month for “frivolous” reasons. In this most recent incident, North Palm Beach officers arrived at Anderson’s house around midnight and noted that he was heavily intoxicated.
He’s now facing a misdemeanor charge for his offenses, which can result in up to one year behind bars and a fine of $1,000. A local cop said that “officers are required to respond to every single 911 call because it could turn out to be something serious,” and added that there is a county non-emergency number that can be used for “complaints about lunch money.” Or in this case, pancake money.
