Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell are quite the couple, as we learned from watching their reality show Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? Yes, it’s kind of upsetting that the whole “Happily Ever After” part is a question, but we had faith in the pair after watching them on Freeform. Sadly that hope has officially dissipated after seeing a promo for tonight’s two-hour special, where Higgins tells Bushnell that he’s not ready to begin a life with her.
Yeah. In the promo below, Higgins and Bushnell are seen during a therapy session when the 28-year-old makes the confession.
“I think you’re ready to start a life. I’m not ready for that,” he says, “Not even close.” Oh ok Ben, cool. Somehow it gets worse. During an emotional conversation about their future, Bushnell asks what we’re all wondering: “So you’re saying the wedding is off?” Higgins doesn’t think twice. “Yeah, I am,” he says.
WOW what a douche bag. I mean, we’re talking about a guy who literally went on a reality TV show to find love that led to marriage. He told two separate women he was in love with them, crushed the one girl’s heart and essentially promised a future to the other, and now he’s taking it back? That’s a low blow, if you ask us.
On the other hand, it’s better to be open and honest with your partner so neither one of you make the mistake of a lifetime. But come on, Ben! WTF?! HOW EXACTLY DID YOU THINK THIS WAS GOING TO GO?! We feel for Lauren and watching him tell her is absolutely devastating. But hey, there’s still two more episodes left after tonight! So maybe they will reconcile… maybe.
Check out the clip below and tune in to tonight’s episode on Freeform at 8 P.M.
