Who hasn’t lost themselves in a travel blogger’s amazing Instagram feed? But while most of us are taking awkward jumping photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, Lauren Bullen (better known on social media as Gypsea Lust) is creating whimsical portraits that will make you want to grab and suitcase and jet set.
While most of us stop at just being jealous of Lauren’s adventures, one girl decided to actually see the world, just like her inspiration. However, she took it a step too far (at least in Lauren’s opinion).
The copycat, who goes by @diana_alexa on Instagram, wasn’t just following in Lauren’s footsteps – she was recreating her photos down to the location, pose, and outfits.
Given that this is Lauren’s livelihood, she wasn’t too pleased to make this discovery. She called the poser out in a blog post appropriately titled “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”
Lauren even contacted Diana, and she defended herself by saying she didn’t have nearly as many followers, so what’s the big deal?
“It’s not about how many followers anyone has,” Lauren wrote. “You are copying and stealing someone’s art to a ridiculously creepy level. ”
The message must have got across, because Diana’s Instagram is now private.
What do you think – is Diana hurting anyone by recreating those photos or is Lauren right? Sound off in the comments.
