As one year ends and another begins, it’s pretty standard to make a New Year’s resolution. It could be ‘complain less’ or to ‘watch less Netflix,’ but more often than not it seems like most New Year’s resolutions have to do with losing weight. It’s easy to say and often comes with self-deprecating feelings of inadequacy, which aren’t always the makings of major motivation.
Losing weight isn’t something anyone should do to please anyone but themselves, and it isn’t something that should come from shame, which can lead to unhealthy habits, including fad dieting and food restricting, which are always unhealthy, but even more so when paired with a fast-paced college lifestyle and a lot of commitments. Bodies need to be properly nourished to get through the day, especially when it’s a busy one.
Why not make 2017 the year of self-improvement? Though this might mean making lifestyle changes and doing some new things to get active, it could also involve indulging (without feeling bad about it!).
Here are some foods that serve as proof of the power of treating yourself. As always, everything in moderation. But just remember that you deserve it. Cheers to making 2017 the best year yet and leaving 2016 behind, ice cream in hand.
