Did Zayn Malik Ask Gigi Hadid To Marry Him?

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik‘s relationship might only be one year old, but apparently things are more serious than we thought. According to a source close to the couple, Malik proposed to the Victoria’s Secret model just in time for the holidays, but she turned him down.

“She’s only 21 and doesn’t feel ready to tie the knot, so she turned him down,” the source told Life and Style, before adding that Hadid’s mother Yolanda Foster might have had something to do with her decision. “She’s seen her mom go through two messy divorces, so Gigi wants to make 100% sure Zayn’s the one before she makes a lifetime commitment.”

A additional source told Hollywood Life that if (or when?!?!?!) the two get engaged, the rest of the world will surely know. “If they do get engaged, it’s not going to be something Gigi will want to hide,” they said. “She’s very proud to be dating Zayn. If [she decides] to marry him, there is no way she’ll keep it a secret.”

Despite a presumable hit to the ego, Malik is dedicated to keep proving his commitment to his supermodel GF. “He calls her his ‘rock’ and he credits her with helping him overcome his anxiety issues,” the source added.

In August of last year, Malik called off his initial engagement to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards. Clearly it didn’t take him long to move on. Malik and Hadid got together in November of 2015, but then split in June of this year, but they just couldn’t keep the distance.

“They broke up and got back together almost right away,” a source told Us Weekly. “Right now, it’s back on, but it could be off again in an hour. They are young and keep going back and forth. Things are testy between them.”

Apparently it’s not that testy. Honestly, if the rumors are true, we think Hadid made the right decision. Sure, most women would automatically say yes to a proposal from Zayn Malik without a second thought, but you’re 21! You’ve got plenty of time, girl.
