2016 may go down as the year we never want to hear about again, but contrary to popular belief, there were a few positives that came out of it. Sure, Brangelina broke up, a reality star was elected president and David Bowie ceased to exist, but 2016 was also the year a ton of our favorite celebrities got married.
We saw everything from castle weddings to winder wonderlands, to gorgeous outdoor settings to bohemian chic. To say our secret Pinterest wedding board was overflowing with new ideas would be a serious understatement.
Below, our top 10 favorite celebrity weddings of 2016. Did your favorite make the list?
10. Becca Tobin & Zach Martin
When we saw photos from Becca Tobin’s winter wedding, we definitely forgot about our disdain for cold weather. Tobin married her longtime beau Zach Martin on December 3 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and it was definitely a white wedding. Sure it might have been cold AF outside and there was snow on the ground, but those photos were so worth freezing her ass off for.
9. Tatyana Ali & Vaughn Rasberry
This summer was a busy time for celebrity weddings. Tatyana Ali, best known for her role on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, married Stanford University professor Vaughn Raspberry in Beverly Hills on July 17. The couple met on eHarmony a little less than two years before their wedding day.
8. Katie Maloney & Tom Schwartz
It took a while for the two Vanderpump Rules stars to walk down the alter, but finally, on August 17, Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney tied the knot in front of 120 guests at TwentyMileHouse in Northern California. Let’s just say, it was definitely worth the wait.
7. Adrienne Bailon & Israel Houghton
Is there anything more romantic than getting married in Paris?! Adrienne Bailon — former Cheetah Girl and girlfriend to Rob Kardashian — married Israel Houghton at the Hotel Plaza Athénéel in Paris on November 11. Bailon reportedly planned the big day during a flight back from Paris after Houghton popped the question.
6. Chelsea Houska & Cole DeBoer
The Teen Mom 2 star married Cole DeBoer on October 1 in a beautiful outdoor wedding. The best part? Chelsea wore an elaborate flower crown not even the most legit hippies could pull off.
5. Morgan Stewart & Brendan Fitzpatrick
Morgan Stewart and Brendan Fitzpatrick from Rich Kids of Beverly Hills wed on May 7 in Santa Susana, California. As expected, Stewart’s choice in dress was incredibly fashion-forward; she wore a lace crop top with a mermaid skirt and a sheer veil, all by Badgley Mischka.
4. Michael Phelps & Nicole Johnson
Say what you will about Michael Phelps, but the Olympic swimmer knows how to plan a wedding. He married his longtime girlfriend in a secret ceremony on June 13 in Paradise Valley, Arizona and it was quite a sight. Officiated by his longtime friend and agent, Peter Carlisle, Johnson looked incredible in a unique and form-fitting Julie Vino dress with an embellished bodice and high leg slit.
3. Audrina Patridge & Corey Bohan
Audrina Patridge has come a long way since her time on The Hills. The 31-year-old former reality star tied the knot to her professional BMX dirt biker boyfriend in Hawaii on November 5. With only 100 guests, Patridge looked absolutely stunning in a white lace gown with a red flower in her hair.
2. Troian Bellisario & Patrick J. Adams
The Pretty Little Liars star married her longtime boyfriend, Patrick J. Adams, during a whimsical bohemian ceremony we were still obsessing over weeks after the photos hit our Instagram feeds. Complete with a kickass bus and tents for their friends to stay the weekend, Bellisario’s wedding was cool, chic and looked fun as hell.
1. Ciara & Russell Wilson
I mean, could anyone really beat a castle wedding? The singer and NFL player tied the knot at the gorgeous Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England on July 6. To say it was stunning would be a severe understatement. Between Ciara’s one-of-a-kind gown with a cathedral train, to their engagement photos that were literally to die for, the couple’s wedding is #goals on so many levels.
