SIU Student, Katherine Kamenjarin Is A Published Poet & Hopes To One Day Write A Best-Selling Novel

Katherine Kamenjarin

I think we can all learn something from Southern Illinois University student, Katherine Kamenjarin. Why? Because the 20-year-old junior is motivated AF.

Katherine was initially interested in the science research program at SIU but found her true passion when she switched to English. In fact, her poetry has already been published and she plans on writing a best-selling novel. She also hopes to turn that novel into a movie. Can you say, ‘#Goals?!’ We’ve got the next J.K. Rowling here, ya’ll – you heard it here first.

Get to know more about Katherine below, and be sure to check back daily as we get to know each of our Miss COED 2017 semifinalists a bit better.

What’s your biggest accomplishment thus far?

My biggest accomplishment thus far would be getting published in a literary magazine for my poetry.

Who do you look up to most and why?

The person I look up to the most would be my mother. She works so hard and has accomplished so much with so little. Without a college degree, she makes over six figures and is everything and more that I hope to be one day.
