After years of trying to figure out why NSYNC broke our pre-teen hearts and went their separate ways, Justin Timberlake is finally shedding light on the reasoning: because everyone else in the band was the f*cking worst.
In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake took a stab at his former bandmates JC Chazez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, saying that the reason why the mega boyband finally called it quits was because Timberlake was the only one who gave a sh*t about the music.
“We were on a stadium tour, and I just felt like the whole thing was too big,” he told the writer. “It started as a fun snowball fight that was becoming an avalanche. And, also, I was growing out of it. I felt like I cared more about the music than some of the other people in the group. And I felt like I had other music I wanted to make and that I needed to follow my heart.”
While it doesn’t exactly come as a surprise — Timberlake is the only guy in the band who was musically talented (if you don’t side with that proclamation, you’ve clearly never heard JC’s solo album) — it does destroy our hopes of a 20-year reunion tour.
Come on guys, CAN YOU PUT ASIDE YOUR DIFFERENCES ONE LAST TIME?! We’ll keep our fingers crossed just in case.
