If you think gathering top models like Gigi Hadid, and Ashley Graham would make the photo edits super simple (like, I’m talking zero retouching), you’d apparently be wrong.
Vogue‘s March cover features seven of the biggest models in the world right now — Liu Wen, Ashley, Kendall Jenner, Gigi, Imaan Hammam, Adwoa Aboah, and Vittoria Ceretti — but that’s not why people are talking about the pic. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that there are a few wonky things going on here.
First off, look at Gigi’s hand. Either she’s an mutant alien and none of us ever noticed, or someone did a crappy editing job. Some people think they made Gigi’s arm and hand extra long to cover up Ashley’s waist.
People are also saying that Ashley’s thigh looks smoothed out and thinned.
Really, Vogue? You get the most gorgeous woman in the world whose entire mission is that you don’t have to be a size 2 to be beautiful and you try to make her appear skinny anyway?
To make things worse, the magazine described the choice of models as a celebration of modern American women, saying, “In a climate of immigration bans and building walls, the biggest names in 2017 make the case that there isn’t just one type of American girl-nor has there ever been.”
This isn’t the first time the magazine has been called out for poor Photoshopping. In the China edition of the magazine released last April, a pic of Victoria Beckham editing so part of her thigh seemed to be missing.
You’d think they learn by now…
