Q May Chen beat breast cancer four years ago. Unfortunately, two years later, it returned, but this time with a terminal diagnosis. Chen, a 27-year-old from Taipei, Taiwan, took it upon herself to fulfill a lifelong dream of hers and she did it alone. Chen set up a bridal photoshoot, showing Cosmopolitan the gorgeous photos and talking to them about her journey through cancer.
Chen told Cosmo that she’s always loved the feeling of getting glammed up and taking photos. She’s always hoped for a wedding and looked forward to an accompanying bridal photoshoot, but she never found the right person to marry and pose in the photos alongside her.
After being diagnosed, she decided that she wasn’t going to wait any longer. Chen decided to do the photoshoot by herself.
“Time is very valuable, every moment can not be wasted,” Chen told Cosmo. “I do not have to wait; I can complete my own dream.”
Chen took her photos at a manor at Yangming Mountain, a perfect fit for the dreamy, fairy tale vibe that she dreamed of. She took photos in four different dresses to showcase different parts of her, she told Cosmopolitan. The red for her personality, pink for her sweetness, white yarn for a glamorous princess-like theme and the gauze for sexiness.
She hopes to remind people of the “limited time we all have.” To make another dream come true, Chen is taking herself on a honeymoon to Bali.
We wish Q May Chen the best of luck as she continues to fight cancer. If anyone deserves a perfect day, it’s her.
