Who’s ready for a little review sesh? I know I am! I wanted to bring y’all a new video, but I’ve been walking in Birmingham Fashion Week and haven’t had time! I wish we could have brought every single one of you along to see these shows because, man, were they fierce. Last year, BFW was two days after the April 27th disaster that struck my college town of Tuscaloosa and most of Alabama. The show still went on to be such a success, and in turn this year was huge. I’m so honored to have been a part of it all.

In lieu of a new video, I’m showing one of your favorites: Ombré On Your Own. I love this look, and I can’t wait to do it again for spring! It’s a fabulous trend, and I certainly hope it sticks around. In fact, some very fashionable people were sporting this look at BFW. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and watch!

Stick a fork in me, I’m done. Channing Tatum hosted Saturday Night Live last night. While SNL has had some pretty funny sketches lately, I thought last night’s episode was hilarious. Maybe I was distracted by Channing’s beautiful, chiseled jaw line and bulging biceps. Or maybe the show’s season is finally picking up speed. Channing’s former career as a stripper was spoofed, along with some politicians, an open-shirted Channing as Matthew McConaughey and Lana del Rey, who bombed her performance in January. Whether you think this episode is funny or not, you don’t want to miss out on the multiple instances of Channing’s hip thrusts and lip licking.

And I just think everyone needs to see Channing Tatum rip his shirt off…

[Welcome to Sunday Funday! I want to start telling you all about fun activities you can do. With spring quickly approaching, there are tons of fun opportunities coming up so if you hear of anything cool, feel free to send it my way!]

Who doesn’t love awesome activities? As we learned from Dale and Brennan of Step Brothers, turning our beds into bunk beds ”would give us so much extra space in our room to do activities.” But you don’t need to build an extraordinarily unsafe bunk bed set to make room for activities when you can do some fabulous things outside. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I feel like it’s kind of safe to say that winter is on a leave of absence this year. Down here in the South the weather has been incredible, and it makes me just want to frolic out in nature.

A lot of people are into runs and marathons, but I need a little more than just running to get me amped about something like that. That’s where The Color Run comes in. A friend sent me the link, and I was totally blown away. It’s a 5k divided into five sections where you wear all white and get pelted with colored powder. You end up tie-dyed, and then you have a massive party with your fellow runners. Sounds amazing right? You better be nodding your head and registering right now. The Color Run is coloring over twenty cities this year, and one of them could be yours!

I’ve gotten highlights a few times, and it just never worked out the way I wanted it to. One time in like eighth grade, I had these awful blonde highlights that made me look like Tony the Tiger’s cousin. It was bad. I really wish I could have seen what it would have looked like before I let that hair lady touch me with her bleach and foil. That was one of my worst hair faux pas, and fortunately I’ve never dealt with that again. I’ve learned that blonde doesn’t work for me, but sometimes I want to spice up my locks temporarily.

Generation Klean has solved this dilemma. They sent me their Gray Disappear temporary hair color “mascaras.” Basically, it’s mascara for your hair that is used to cover up grays but can also be used as temporary highlights. It covers up roots, too. It comes in four colors: blaze, gold, espresso, and onyx. Blaze was the only one that really showed up in my dark brown hair, but if you have lighter hair you’ll have a blast playing around with different looks. I might add some red in permanently after using these.

Our friends have different personalities when they drink. You have the friend that suddenly becomes really funny, the friend that becomes a total jerk, the friend who becomes a photographer. And then there’s that one friend that has the tendency to bolt away from the group and gallivants off into the night without their cellphone, wallet, or keys. You hope to see them the next day extraordinarily hungover, but alive.

I’ve been this friend before. It happened on Tacky Christmas my junior year. I ran away from my boyfriend at the time. Obviously my drunk self wanted out of the relationship so much that I sprinted around my apartment building just to get away. I like to think it happens to everyone at some point, but I do have one friend that does this all.the.time. Well, problem solved.

Thanks to Aertrex, you can now track your runaway friend with GPS shoes. These are actually made for senior citizens suffering from memory loss disorders or have the tendency to become lost, which is really great. There are tons of stories where the elderly end up lost and their families can’t find them, but now there’s a way to avoid that. In all seriousness, these shoes are a fantastic invention. But these really could be awesome for that friend that runs away. I’ve heard stories from friends who lose someone for several days, which is really scary. It’d be great if we could track all of our friends to avoid situations like that. Actually, I think there’s a creepy app for that.

You’ve seen the Say Yes To brand all over the place unless you’ve been living under a rock. They’ve got some awesome lotion and chapstick, and it’s all natural, organic, good-for-your-body stuff. I’ve used several products from Say Yes To Carrots and Say Yes To Tomatoes, but I had yet to try out Say Yes To Blueberries or Say Yes To Cucumbers. Well, I was lucky enough to be able to test some products out for you all. Trust me, you’ll be saying yes in no time.

I tried out the Say Yes To Cucumbers Eye Soothing Gel and Say Yes To Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment and Brightening Eye Roller, and I’m really happy with the results. Typically with eye treatments, I’m a little skeptical of drug store brands because they just don’t seem to do the trick. While these products aren’t going to do the same thing as a Clinique treatment or something high end, they will keep your peepers de-puffed and bright on a budget. These products are super wallet-friendly, smell great, and work. Check out my review below!

We’ve been keeping you up to date on the Yale Sex Week debacle, and there’s finally good news: Yale administrators have approved the proposal for Sex Week 2012! Back in November, the administration banned Yale Sex Week over the participation of the porn industry with some of the seminars and discussions. Needless to say, most of the students were not happy with the decision. After a bunch of complaints, President Levin allowed the directors of Sex Week to submit a new proposal to the administration. They really wanted it to happen as they felt it would benefit all students on campus, no matter what your sexual orientation is. The proposal was spot on, and it looks like it worked!

Last week, the administration approved the proposal and is allowing the use of Yale facilities. However, Yale will not be included in the name of the event. An email from Dean Mary Miller said although “some aspects of [the proposal] that do not seem to underpin our own educational mission,” the events have still been approved. The administration has not decided whether or not to provide financial support, which was requested in the proposal. The student directors said the week “will place a special emphasis on sexual health and female sexuality” but won’t stop talking about the controversial topics like pornography.

It’s also been announced in a press release that Anne Olivarius will be the Keynote Speaker for the event: “Ann Olivarius ‘77, first person to complete joint-degrees in the Yale Law School and the School of Management in three years, one of the first female Rhodes Scholars, and founding partner of the preeminent international corporate law firm McAllister Olivarius, will give Sex Week 2012′s keynote speech on sexual education and discourse as a means to prevent sexual violence.” She was a plaintiff in the 1980 Alexander v. Yale trial where students sued Yale for “alleged failure to provide a centralized grievance process for sexual harassment cases.” That case is similar to the one Yale is currently facing in violation of Title IX after the DKE fraternity scandal, which was filed by several students who feel Yale has failed in dealing with issues of sexual harassment and assault.

Maybe Sex Week’s comeback will inform the administration as well as the students.

The internet is a wonderful place, and thanks to the tabling of SOPA and PIPA after a massive internet blackout, our favorite sites are safe. I can’t imagine what I’d do without sites like this or LOLcats or Feminist Ryan Gosling. Where would I waste my time? Where would I get a good laugh when I’m feeling down? How will I find funny things to post on my friends’ walls? Well, we don’t have to worry about that right now because these sites are still up and being awesome. Let me introduce you to this little gem: Guys With Fries.

This morning, Joe Paterno was pronounced dead at the age of 85 after losing his battle with lung cancer. He was in the hospital since January 13th, and reports yesterday were swirling that he was in serious condition. CBS falsely reported last night that he had died, but Paterno’s sons took to Twitter to deny the reports. Today, the Twittersphere is mourning the loss of not only a coach, but a legend.

His family released this statement: ”He died as he lived. He fought hard until the end, stayed positive, thought only of others and constantly reminded everyone of how blessed his life had been. His ambitions were far reaching, but he never believed he had to leave this Happy Valley to achieve them. He was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players and his community.”

Joe Paterno had been the head coach at Penn State since 1966, and his legacy as the winningest coach in football history with 409 victories lives on despite the past few months. The Penn State family has been through a lot regarding the Jerry Sandusky scandal and continue to face it everyday. Paterno said in an interview with The Washington Post that ”I didn’t know exactly how to handle it and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was. So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did. It didn’t work out that way.” It’s truly devastating what happened, and there are many unanswered questions regarding it. But take a moment to remember his legacy in football.

I remember two years ago when Penn State came to Bryant-Denny Stadium to play. There were no boos when that man stepped out on the field, but instead the entire stadium was chanting “JOE PA!” It was a pretty cool sight seeing that little old man walk across our field and shake Nick Saban’s hand. That’s what I’m going to remember about him.

I know what you’re thinking, “Caitlin, I can’t change my part! I’ll look ridiculous.” False. I have recently switched from my natural side part to a middle part. I’ll give you a minute to collect your thoughts. It seems crazy to abandon the natural growth of your hair, but honestly it’s a lot of fun to be different and change your part. People don’t rock the middle part anymore, which is kind of a bummer because it was so big back in the day. Now it’s starting to slowly make a comeback and it’s a little more edgy. The first day I did it everyone was asking me if I got my hair cut. Little did they know I just parted my hair down the middle instead of on the side.

You’re probably assuming that you can’t pull off a part other than the one you have, but that’s not true. There are some parts that are more flattering on certain face shapes than others, but it doesn’t mean you can’t try it. For instance, heart shaped faces best pull off a middle part because it elongates the face while those with long faces lean towards side parts. Watch below!
