Musings of a Television Addict, Or, Season Finales Are Mentally Exhausting

So last week was truly the end of our television season, and off we go into the doldrums of summer programming. But first, let’s look back at the wonderful ways our favorite shows wrapped up.

Gossip Girl: I’m proud of the writers of this show for making some sort of reasonable denouement to the ridiculous things they put their characters through this season: Georgina got conveniently sent off to a reform school, everyone broke up, and they not-so-subtly planted the …

The Musings of a Television Addict: The Ends and the Beginnings

It’s a good time to be a TV fan, girls. Other than the incredibly disappointing resurfacing of Britney in How I Met Your Mother, things are going well. A couple television tidbits for your perusing pleasure:

* Renewals for shows I love: How I Met Your Mother and Reaper. YAY! People, this is good comedy right here. If you aren’t already tuning in, you should be.

*Speaking of How I Met Your Mother, the websites mentioned on this week’s episode …

How To Deal With Reverse Homesickness

So you’ve finished your first year of college! You’re relieved, excited, and filled with pride (hopefully) at your academic accomplishment. You say goodbye to your friends at school, and make the journey home.

For me, that journey home was pretty long: 1330.45 miles, if we’re being exact. And after two weeks at home, and that initial joyful reunion with my friends from high school, I am suffering from a major case of reverse homesickness.

During my first semester of school, …

Designer Looks On A College Budget: Cameron Diaz

The Kid’s Choice Awards don’t really conjure up images of high fashion, and usually the celebrities use this time to dress like complete nuts (Rihanna and Jennifer Love Hewitt, I’m talking to you). But for a look that is summery and fun, Cameron Diaz nailed it on the head.

The dress’s print is interesting and unique without being too avant garde. I really love the cardigan, because it keeps the mini-ness of the dress from looking too trampy. The shoes …

Designer Looks On A College Budget: Blake Lively

I have an embarrassing secret. I am absolutely addicted to Gossip Girl. I know it’s completely tacky and implausible, not to mention cheesy and melodramatic. But I can’t help myself. I CAN’T HELP MYSELF. Plus, the clothes are fantastic. And so, for this inaugural post I’ve decided to reproduce an outfit from an upcoming episode.

Yes, I’m aware not everyone can rock the shiny, skin-tight leggings look with confidence, but in this color, with a longer tunic, it can actually …

The New Sexual Stigma: Remaining A Virgin In College

I’m 20 years old. Decent looking, intelligent, quite funny and personable. I’ve had a few boyfriends, but none have seemed to stick. I’ve also had a few drunken encounters, but never been drunk enough to let myself go all the way (not that I would want that to happen). I’m a perfectly normal, acceptable, approachable human being. And yet, I’m still a virgin.

I really don’t have a huge problem with that…cliche as it sounds, there hasn’t been anyone yet …

Britney Spears Invades ‘How I Met Your Mother’, I Get Freaked Out

I’m not going to lie. I’m kind of addicted to television. However, I like to think that I watch television of a pretty high quality (mainly sitcoms that are actually funny, documentaries with the occasional Haunted Insert Noun Here, and smart dramas that don’t involve horny doctors in fictional hospitals).

So when I found out that Britney Spears had been cast on my second favorite sitcom (behind The Office), How I Met Your Mother, I was a little perturbed to …

Altruistic Web Surfing: Just Click and Help!

So I know I’m not the only person who feels incredibly guilty after reading stories about abject poverty in other countries. Subsequently, I feel even worse when I put it out of my mind and get back to own, comparatively ridiculously affluent life.

So I’ve compiled a list of really great and easy ways to contribute to some incredibly worthy causes. Bonus: they’re all things you can do easily on your laptop at any time!

Free Rice: This handy …

Life As A Disney Cast Member: Stuff the Mouse Would Kill Me For Telling You

You know you’ve thought about being a princess. Don’t try to lie and say you haven’t. Even the most tom-boyish of my friends has dreamed of wearing a pretty dress, meeting a handsome prince, and never having to work a day of their life. And while I must say I prefer Megara from Hercules to Cinderella, the allure is still there.

This is where working at the Disney park becomes some people’s dream. Some girls, deluded as they may be, …

Introducing Your Newest Crush(es) of 2008

Yes, we all know the supposed heart-throbs of our generation: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, blah blah blah blah. But aren’t there girls out there who yearn for a pair of boys with adorable accents, mad guitar skills, and who are also downright hilarious? If you answered no to that question, you need a wake up call, and here it is.

These two rather adorable boys are called Flight of the Conchords, and last Sunday they won a Grammy for best …
