I've been told I have an alterego, whom I apparently named Penelope: she is probably "that girl" you see dancing on the bar, or crowd surfing, or playing with glowsticks, or doing a split, or on a mechanical bull or shot-gunning with the boys. God love her.

Greek Formals: Learn from My Mistakes

I’d consider myself a seasoned formal veteran. As such, I have acquired a bit of wisdom as far as formal do’s and dont’s. Whether you are a freshman going to formals for the first time or even a senior not affiliated in the greek circuit, I have chosen a recent and epic failure at greek formal-ing that will hopefully teach you from my mistakes… or at least give you a good laugh.

Getting Inked: Trashy Fail or Sexy Win?

Girls with tattoos get a bad rap these days. They are associated with “don’t mess with me” bad ass chicks, trashy/skanky girls, and hippie-love-child wannabes. But I want a tattoo and I am none of those things. I’ve been thinking long and hard about permanently tagging myself, but I can’t seem to commit to it.

Packing Your Bag for the Library – A Mostly Serious Guide

Every college library is similar – always too hot or too cold, smells kind of bad but you aren’t sure why, phrases etched into the tables, and a mixed population of students either writing on each others’ Facebook walls or writing 20 page term papers in a single night. Good times!

Get Stoned And Do Fun Things!

Well my favorite holiday is here. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas cookies; I love pumpkin pie; and I also love dressing up like a slutty Dorothy, cat, nurse, (insert random noun here); but there is nothing I love more than the 20th of April.

I Am Single…And I love Valentine’s Day

I am single.

In fact, I have ALWAYS been single on Valentine’s Day, which must be a sick joke of that sadistic cherub, I guess. Usually, this makes February 14th a dreadful occasion, but this year, I am dealing with a new feeling unlike any year prior: I am depressed, apathetic, belligerently drunk, inexplicably excited.

I am so over the whole “Boo Hoo Valentines Day, let’s pretend it’s not happening” and “my best friend is my Valentine! Yay- girl date!” …

Eating Disorders Can Be Beaten: Tips for Helping a Friend in Need

A recent poll on CollegeCandy showed that many of us know people in our lives who are suffering from an Eating Disorder. Not only did those results remind me of a very sad truth for our demographic, but they also made me realize that the only way to change that truth is to provide people with the tools necessary to help a friend in need.

I was anorexic and then bulimic for about two years before ultimately recovering. I have …

The End of an Error and Making MLK proud

Despite my pounding headache right now, I just had a moment of clarity that I want to share with you all.

The Inauguration of our 44th president is on tomorrow, and frankly I can’t remember anyone ever really caring about this ceremonial aspect of an election. Until this year.

And, wow, do they care.

D.C is “poppin’ off,” as the kids say. People have been partying all week, and will continue all week. What seems like the entire world is …
