Who lives on your hall in the dorms can make or break the experience. For example, if your neighbor consistently knocks on your door asking if you can turn down your TV while you’re just trying to watch Fresh Prince, you will probably want to pull out your own hair and slap the neighbor in the face by the end of the first week. But there’s always the chance that you’ll somehow end up with the most amazing people on your hall, and your year will magically turn into the best college experience anyone has ever had. That’s right people, the kids on your hall can make all the difference.

Okay, so here at the CollegeCandy offices, we’re pretty obsessed with our candy pink Sony VAIO S series laptop PC. Why, you ask? Because this thing has a 15 hour battery life and looks amazing when we bring it to meetings. We have to tell you, it’s pretty freakin’ amazing living in a world free of tangled power cords and low batteries.

This past Saturday I finally moved into my new apartment with my old best friend. We started out apartment hunt June 1st…looked at over 20 apartments, and finally found one we liked. It’s a work in progress.

It’s the summer after you’ve graduated high school. You’ve finished your exams. You’ve finished the college application process. You have your diploma, you’ve taken the pictures in the cap and gown and you finally decided on a college. So now all you want to do is kick back and relax and enjoy an entire summer free of responsibility and full of hanging with your friends before you each go your separate ways to start some new adventures.

Back-to-school is right around the corner, and for many of you, the inevitable final year of college is looming. Breathe in. Breathe out. It’s going to be OK.

When it comes to preparing for college dorm life, there are a lot of essentials. From twin XL sheets and comforters, to college seating and shower totes, you’ve either got it or it’s already on your checklist. You’re a savvy shopper and you have all the necessary dorm stuff covered…or do you?

There are certain tech-type things that every girl knows how to do. We know how to upload Facebook photos, and how to listen to music online. We know how to tweet and send e-mails, and how to Skype and iChat. But there are other tech things that often escape us.

You lived, you learned, you loved. Now you are back at your home campus and in a total funk. What happened to the campus you used to love and why is everyone rolling your eyes when you start telling hilarious study abroad stories? Coming back home after going abroad can be a surprisingly weird experience and it’s normal to experience reverse culture shock.

Remember Freshman year when every upper classmen you knew said “treasure the next four years, they go by so fast.” Well not to sound like a broken record…but they kind of do. I’m entering my last semester of college and this huge list of things I had planned on doing before graduating has kind of well, not been tackled at all.
