Let’s talk Bush. (no politics involved!)

I have no problem shaving my armpits. Or my legs (despite the fact that my tiny shower forces me to contort my body into acrobat like stances to reach my limbs). But the one thing I keep going back and forth on is The Bush.

(Nope. Not our president. Or his dad.)

I never used to shave down there. It never occurred to me to do so. It was natural, right? My innocence in the matter was shattered one night …

Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News, I Got a Bad Case of….Blackberry Thumb?

You know we’ve entered a whole new kind of generation when there’s an emerging medical problem resulting in the advancement of our gizmos and gadgets.

ivillage.com reports the case of “Blackberry Thumb” – a condition in which the tendons in our thumbs are strained by the overuse of PDA’s. While some doctors say they’ve treated Blackberry Thumb, others say it’s bogus. The APTA, or the American Physical Therapy Association, even offers tips on how to “properly” use a PDA. …

iRun – Nike Goes 21st Century

I’m not a big runner myself. I think I might have half jogged across the street the other day to avoid an oncoming car. But I am always inspired by those joggers who run everyday—weather it’s bright and sunny, or below zero and snowing. I would kill for a quarter their motivation.

Those of you who are runners should definitely keep your eyes peeled for Nike’s new iPod compatible N+ sneakers. The current N+ sneakers allow you to track …

Think you’re dining out healthy? Think again!

I’ll admit it, I hate to cook. My definition of homemade is anything that I have to press a button for. Because of this, I end up eating out at a lot of restaurants weekly. Name a restaurant, and I can give tell you every variation of chicken or salad that it has on the menu.

The only problem with all this dining out is that I am very health-conscious when it comes to food, so I weigh all of …

Drink Yourself Fat

Other than booze (obviously), we all tend to consume a large amount of high-calorie drinks that contribute to weight gain. Like those delish mocha lattes, Snapple Iced Teas and cokes. But I was shocked to discover that “about 21 percent of calories consumed by Americans over the age of 2 come from beverages.” Thanks to an article in the NY times , I now have come to terms with my drinking habits.

21 percent is a hell of a lot …

Hello Adulthood, Goodbye Belly Piercing???

No, this post is not about getting my period or losing my virginity. Instead, it chronicles the revelation I had last night while standing in front of my sorority’s bathroom mirror after a shower.

I am 22, set to graduate college in a month and a half, and start a “real” life. Everything about me, looks and personality wise, has matured over the past four years. I feel pretty confident that I am ready to attack the post-graduate world.

Yet, …

Have Your Beer and Drink it Too

If you are anything like me – fabulous, sexy, hilariously funny, and just about perfect – then you are also trying to balance your party life with your staying-healthy life. You workout hard every morning, eat salads with the dressing on the side and always (always) order diet soda.

But you also like to party. Like really party.

After all, we are in college. And despite what our parents say, the biggest part of college life happens to include a …

No One Glows With Skin Cancer

We’ve heard it all before! Tanning is bad for you–skin cancer, wrinkles, hazardous UV Rays, “you’ll look like a leather bag by the time you’re 40,” blah, blah, blah. Yet, we all do it, all the time.

In the summer we worship the sun 24/7, scantly clad and loving every minute of it. In the winter we worship manufactured UV Rays, even more scantly clad–if not “clad” at all–in a tiny little box-like capsule. Well, at least we Northern East …

Blowing Smoke-less

I’ve been a smoker for a long time, and though those Truth Anti-Smoking campaigns freak me out, it doesn’t make me want to kick the habit anytime soon. I also went to school in France where you used to be able to smoke just about anywhere you went. So moving back to the States has been… hard.

It’s fifty-fifty really—on the one hand, when you’re out at a bar, smoking outside is a great way to meet other people. On …

Private: Attack of the Calorie Packs

It seems like every kind of food or snack is now compressing into some sort of low calorie pack. The explosion of the 100 calorie packs really took off in the past year and the newest, almost laughable, version is the Hostess cupcakes. Three tiny cupcakes in one little package—all for just 100 calories.

Some other fabulous new treats have been turned into low calorie packs. Quaker Mini Delights (rice cakes) with Chocolate Drizzle have just 90 calories a pack. …
