Cannes Film Festival is underway and that means celebs are strutting their stuff on the international red carpet. Yesterday, in support of AIDS research, stars donned their swankiest ensembles at the amfAR Cinema Gala. Sequins, stilettos and a good cause? What’s not to love! We’ve got our favorite fashions of the evening rounded up here for you to peruse. Sandra Bullock is looking pretty freakin’ amazing, if we can say so ourselves.

Eva Longoria is consistently on-point when it comes to taking fashion risks. She never fails to incorporate the latest trends into her wardrobe, while never looking tacky or try-hard. Whether she’s at an event or running errands, you won’t catch her looking anything other than polished, vibrant, and totally in vogue.

It doesn’t look like colored denim is on the way out any time soon, so if you’ve been waffling on whether or not to indulge, I would encourage you to go for it. This orange pair is gorgeous – bold without being gaudy, and would complement a variety of colors (greys, blues, purples/dark reds), but if all else fails, a crisp white button down is always a great choice. A warm bright tote provides a lovely contrast to the orange, and silver shoes are neutral without being dull. This would be a fab outfit for brunch or casual Friday if you work in an office.

It’s summertime! Which means many things including but not limited to: day drinking, music festivals, sun bathing, skinny dipping, bonfires, and lots and lots of fun! It also means it’s time for The Preakness Stakes. The Preakness Stakes or “Preakness” (as the cool kids call it) is a  Thoroughbred horse race held on the third Saturday in May each year at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.

Apparently, now Preakness isn’t just for race-enthusiasts, but college kids too! It has been said to be the new college destination to blow off some steam and have a few cocktails. If you’re attending Preakness, you’ll be walking around in the grass all day in the hot sun (weather permitting), and this means dressing smart. You can’t wear stiletto heels or short ass-hugging dresses. Preakness is a classier event, but since you’re a college kid looking to get drunk and watch some horses run around a track, we need to make sure you’re dressed classy but comfortable (and cheap!). So allow me to help you find some key items for Preakness 2012 that’ll make you look like a million bucks!

I am not a fan of Glee. By association, I can’t stand Lea Michele (especially after she took a Beyonce song and drained the meaning, angst, and soul out of it, but I digress). However, she is undoubtedly a high-profile starlet, and she has great style– simple, sophisticated and unabashedly girly.

I gravitated towards this ensemble, because I recently tried on a dress similar to the one Lea wore, but ultimately didn’t buy it, because I wasn’t sure how to accessorize it without looking tacky or utterly dull. Turns out, I was totally overthinking it. A little white dress doesn’t need a lot of decoration, especially if it flatters your silhouette. Metallic shoes are my summer go-to, and these strappy sandals are fierce. To add a little more flair, Lea went with a statement ring (here’s a closeup), which is ostentatious without being too gaudy. These three pieces combine to make an effortless aesthetic and an adorable summer ensemble.

CollegeCandy is headed out to San Francisco for Adobe Days! While we’re out there, we’re going to be playing with some of the latest creative software Adobe has to offer and learning about new ways to bring the products to you, the students.  We’re super excited for this opportunity, but got stumped on the classic travel question: What do we pack to wear?

When you’re stuck in one place for a long time — like in a car or a plane — you want to be pretty darn comfy. We tossed together some leggings with a soft, bright sweater and added a pair of funky flip flops. Such little thought required and you won’t look wrinkled or disheveled once you finally reach your destination. Bonus points because we found this Breakfast at Tiffany’s-inspired sleep mask and a pretty copy of our favorite book, Wuthering Heights.

Since, much to our dismay, we can’t wear leggings post-transit on a business trip, we had to assemble a versatile work outfit that screamed, “We do more than drink during office hours. We swear!” Let me tell you, a colorful pencil skirt and a hot pair of heels can pretty much scream anything you want them to, and we think we succeeded conveying the profesh vibe with these here. And, most important of all, since we’ll be at the Adobe campus, we’ll definitely be using Photoshop throughout the day. Every good cross-country excursion calls for a little sight-seeing, so we want to be dressed to go when it’s time to scope out the Golden Gate bridge and chase some cable cars. Spring trends included a large amount of color blocking as well as certain couture looks that are surprisingly wearable. Gucci’s collection was color blocked to the fullest degree. As bright neons and pastels paired together has become popular, Gucci’s collection stayed elegant with pops of color matched with neutrals. To replicate this style, pair an orange Chambray tee with a white lace mini skirt. Add some solid blacks by accentuating your skirt with a black belt and some suede pumps.
