MTV’s reality explosions, “Sixteen and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom,” sparked controversy and debate around the nation. Leading to speculation, judgment and even, at times, envy, these shows offered America a small glimpse into the lives of young, teenage mothers. But take away the lights, the camera, and the millions of viewers and wonder what it would actually be like to go through senior year of high school with a baby bump. Would you feel anxious and excited or alone and scared? Would your family and friends support you or leave you and your growing belly behind? Gaby Rodriguez, a student at Toppenish High, took it upon herself to find out the answers to these riveting questions.

With a looming senior project ahead of her, Gaby Rodriguez, a 17-year-old “A” Student, decided to fake her own pregnancy as a social experiment. Spending 6 ½ months of her senior year with a wire mesh and cotton quilt belly, Gaby tried to understand the stereotypes and rumors that go along with teenage pregnancy. She took careful notes of what was said not only to her face, but also behind her back. Only a handful of people knew the truth about her charade, including her best friend, boyfriend, mother and principle. The rest of her fellow students, siblings and teachers were left out in the dark with their criticism. Her boyfriend’s parents thought it was going to be a boy.

According to the Yakima Herald, the experiment came to a close during an emotional school assembly entitled, “Stereotypes, rumors, and statistics.” Here, quotes were read of what people actually said about her character throughout the experiment.

“In essence, she gave up her senior year,” one student read, “She sacrificed her senior year to find out what it would be like to be a potential teen mom.”

When Gaby took her of homemade, prosthetic belly, she was met with both confusion and nervous laughter. However, after the short question and answer portion of the assembly, there was a standing ovation.

“She fooled me. I never would’ve guessed it,” Vicente Villanueva tells the Yakima Herald, “I’m really surprised.”

“I didn’t know what to say. I just started crying,” adds Gaby’s niece, Angel Jalomo.

Gaby was relieved when it was all over and was even more thrilled that she didn’t have to wear her fake belly to prom. Instead, she wore a form-fitting mermaid gown and a sense of freedom from nasty rumors and hurtful speculations.

Am I alone in feeling like New Year’s Resolutions are always the same? You want to lose weight, you decide to keep on top of your class readings…maybe you’re going to take up a new hobby or find a boyfriend. Yaaaaaawn! I think this year you, and the rest of humanity, should take on some serious resolutions. Like Oprah-sized resolutions. Ones that will positively impact society throughout the year, and hopefully for years to come.

Need a little help thinking of something that’s more charitable than you trying to fit back into your pre-college skinny jeans? Well, you’re in luck because I’ve come up with this little list of suggestions…

Boycott Ke$ha
A relatively simple move that can only have positive ramifications for future generations and any alien life forms who travel to our world light years from now. How would you like your child (or some little green dude) picking up a CD made by someone with a dollar sign in her name and listen to a track like “Party at a Rich Dude’s House”? They would actually think that you and everyone you knew actually listened to and liked a girl with hair extensions and crack eyes. Now, we can’t be having that.

Give Freshmen a Shot
At getting in your panties, at getting to the keg, at getting a chance to speak in class. Whatever it may be, try not to forget the younger people. You were once in their position, too. New on campus, unsure of the social hierarchy of frat parties, always on-time with your assignments, often ignored by everyone of legal drinking age. Make someone’s dreams come true this spring. And remember, stealing some little dude’s virginity is a good deed.

Petition to Get a Pinkberry on Every Corner
Seriously, have you ever eaten this swirly goodness? Have you had the privilege of selecting your own toppings and devouring a giant cup of low-fat possibly-yogurt with zero guilt? Do you have your frequent customer punch card!? Girlfriend, you’re missing out.

Convince MTV to Stop Giving Pregnant 16 Year-Olds Television Shows
So you’re a hobag who f*cked someone’s cousin in the bathroom at Lisa Masterson’s Sweet Sixteen party. I guess condoms weren’t part of the goody bag, because nine months later you’ve got a kid and a baby daddy. Should you stress? In a normal world, yes. But in the crazy reality-TV society we live in, you get a massive payday and D-List celebrity stardom. Ummm…can we just do something to fix this, please?

Attempt to Become Less Dependent on Facebook
Get that look off your face, I said “attempt”. You don’t need to quit your status updates and newsfeed refreshes cold turkey, but maybe we could possibly, all together, try to spend a teeny-tiny little bit less time on Facebook. It would be baby steps. But think about how much better life could be if you actually get out and enjoy your friends IRL (that’s “in real life”).

Wear Jeans at Least Once a Week
Yeah, we know it’s all about hangover comfort when it comes to class couture. But it won’t kill you to once in a while throw on a pair of jeans during the week. It will instantly make you feel more mature and more ready to start the day. Oh and you’ll also be able to avoid the spring break squeeze because you’ll feel it right away when that zipper starts acting up when it comes to zipping it up.

Everyone has a story. And while my post-grad journey has so far revolved around moving to California, interning, working odd jobs here and there, and studying for the LSAT to attend law school next year, I know that my story isn’t a typical after-college route. In fact, I don’t think there is a typical after-college route, which is why life after college is so exciting and so scary. It varies from person to person and it’s difficult for every individual post-grad to gauge their success when there’s nothing to compare it to.

Sometimes I like to pretend that I’m living a different post-grad life than I am. I even sometimes think about marketing post-grad stories to Bravo or MTV because everyone I know seems to have their own story. Some lives are more stressful than others, and some are boring. Some people are still strictly obsessed with college and continue to spend the majority of their new existence going back. Some post-grads are completely different than a year ago.

But they are all interesting in their own right.

I know my personal experience, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking and wondering about other post-grad scenarios. For example:

The Working Girl: Since I haven’t joined the work force, I can’t help but dream about what it would be like if I was working 9 to 5 every day, sitting in a cubicle, wear high heels and black dress pants, and eating soggy sandwiches for lunch. And then I wonder if any of it would be like that anyways. Would I be happy or bored or content? Who knows.

The Grad Student: Imagine if I was writing this CollegeCandy series as a first year graduate student, whether it was for law school or some other graduate program, I wonder if I would be swamped with work or bored with my classes. I’m sure I would be writing about my classmates and the transition into a higher education setting outside of college. Would I even consider myself a post-grad if I was in school?

The Gap Year: And then there’s the daydream of taking what is known as a gap year abroad. I could have spent the summer in South Africa with my sister, traveling through Capetown, having monkeys on Table Mountain open my car door and dig in my purse. Or I could have gone to Thailand and done some undercover journalism there on the sex trafficking. Or I could have gone to Europe and ate my way through one country to the next, putting on twenty pounds as I tore through croissants and crepes and macaroons and pretzels.

The lessons I would learn in each of these scenarios would be different, and the ups and the downs would vary – however, they would still exist regardless of the reality. While college generally was a more hands-on experience (with professors and parents and friends and Greek life and grades influencing everything), I love post-grad because it’s just me flying solo and teaching myself as much as I can. But really … I wish I had a TV show to live vicariously through my other fellow post-grads.

While the reality of my life right now could have been a variety of different options, I can’t help but think this route is the one for me. And the route that other post-grads go down is the one for them. But wouldn’t it be cool if all our stories could be collected? Seriously … if those 16 and Pregnant girls can get their own hour, I think every post-grad story is worth an hour too.

So, my fellow CollegeCandy readers, we may not have our own reality show, but I still want to know … what are you planning your post-grad to be or what is the reality of your post-grad life today? We all have a story to tell, and I want to hear yours!

Comedies. Dramas. Dramedies. It doesn’t really matter. As long as it’s on, we’ll watch it. And if we're not there to see it, we'll DVR it and watch it later.

You might not have noticed this, but here at CollegeCandy, we’re kind of TV addicts. Comedies. Dramas. Dramedies. It doesn’t really matter. As long as it’s on, we’ll watch it. And if we’re not there to see it, we’ll DVR it and watch it later.

But there’s one genre in particular that holds a special place in our hearts. That’s right, you guessed it, I’m talking about reality TV. Who needs actors and scripts when reality is just so damn entertaining all on its own? The people we watch, the situations they put themselves in, just can’t compete with figments of the imagination. And love ‘em or hate ‘em, reality shows have altered our lives and pop culture as we know it.

So, since it’s early on a Monday morning and there’s nothing on but the news (boring) and some Proactive infomercial (it’s too early for Avril Lavigne’s skin problems), let’s count down the top ten reality TV shows that changed our lives.

10. The Real Word. What? Do you think I have no sense of history? This is the longest running show on MTV. One of the longest running reality TV shows of all time. It set the standard for hot tubs and co-ed bathrooms and super dramatic fights that often involve throwing things. It’s a classic. It had to be here.

9. Iron Chef America. Or Top Chef. Everyday Italian with Giada De Laurentiis. Or Throw down with Bobby Flay. Basically any show that makes me hungry… while also teaching me what an amuse-bouche is. Or how to reduce cooking wine. Or the beauty of scallops. Seriously, why do I know these things? Oh yeah, TV.

8. John and Kate Plus Eight Well, this one is not so much the show itself, but more the fact that it brought us the whirlwind that is Kate Irene Gosselin, the woman who just wanted a normal life for her kids. That’s why she let TLC film her as she “mothered them.” It’s why her divorce was scattered across tabloids. And it’s why she appeared on Dancing with the Stars. (Side note: Have you seen that woman’s hair?)

7. Sixteen and Pregnant. And people wonder why teenage girls are making pregnancy pacts (and why twenty-something girls are making runs to CVS at 10pm to ease their minds after an 8-hour TV marathon).

6. Keeping Up With the Kardashians. When this show first started, I was not a loyal viewer. Who wanted to watch a family pretending like they actually have a reason to be famous? What do they even do? Sex tapes. Celebrity boyfriends. Been there, done that. Then I accidentally on purpose turned on the TV while it was on. I think you know what happened next….well, after I spent 4 hours mastering the intensely smokey eye.

5. The Real Housewives. Orange County. Atlanta. New York. New Jersey. D.C. Or Beverly Hills. Everyone has their favorite. This show is just one of the many reasons to be glad you’re still a college girl.

4 Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. This was the beginning of an era for MTV. The first of many “reality TV shows with the feel of a scripted drama.” This was LC’s big break. This was the show that gave us…

3. The Hills. Somehow I’ve managed to make it through life without ever seeing an episode. But even I understand the socio-cultural significance of this particular show. I mean Speidi alone was life altering. But the couple everyone (or at least I do) loves to hate was only the beginning. Drama. Deceit. Juicy details. And then the last few seconds of the series finale. Enough said.

2. The Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor Pad. This show has been on the air for eight years, providing viewers with almost a decade’s worth of pretty people breaking up, making out and freaking out. But let’s be honest, it never would have gotten the coveted number two spot if it hadn’t been for Brad Womack. He led us to DeAnna Pappas who led us to Jason Mesnick who led us to Jillian Harris who led us to Jake Pavelka who led us to Ali Fedotowsky. So much drama. So few brain cells. Add in a summer season of Bachelor Pad, and an upcoming repeat performance by Brad Womack, and this show just can’t be beat, well, except for…

1. The Jersey Shore. Come on. Did you really expect anything else here? These people were the most popular Halloween costume of 2010. They brought us t-shirt time, grenades, smushing and, of course, “CABS ARE HERE!” MTV gave them their own book. South Park dedicated an episode to them. They are pop culture. As much as you might hate to admit it, Snooki, The Situation, Pauly D, JWoww and all the rest have wormed their way into the hearts’ of America, monumentally shaking the very foundations of our existence.

GTL ladies, GTL.

Which reality TV shows changed your life? Which one do you love? Love to hate? Or just plain old hate?

We at CollegeCandy have really enjoyed watching the Winter Olympics (read: ogling the hot athletes). But as much fun as it was rooting on our people for the past two weeks, I’m a little more than psyched that some of my favorite shows are coming back!

Gossip Girl.
On Monday, March 8th, our favorite socialites will return (FINALLY) with more drama than the UES can handle (and more opportunities for me to drool over Chase Crawford/ogle Serena’s designer duds)! We’ve got Jenny’s drug dealing ways to deal with, the Dan and Vanessa dramz and, of course, Chuck’s big secret!

Grey’s Anatomy.
Although the flashback episode was cute, I’m ready for the plot to thicken! Will McDreamy succeed as the new chief? Is Izzy ever coming back? What will happen between Lexi and McSteamy? And, most importantly, will we ever find out why did Lexi went blonde with her complexion?

The Real Housewives of New York.
Okay so the Real Housewives of Anywhere are my guilty pleasure, but I’ve had enough of Vicki’s controlling ways and that new girl’s Bible Thumping Boobies. I want my New York ladies back! And this Thursday my wish will come true. With all. 5. housewives. Yes, even Crazy Kelly is back for another round. But that’s not all! We also get our favorite house husband (Simon), renewed vows, record deals, and a pregnancy. And who knows – maybe we’ll finally find out what kind of drugs Kelly’s on.

16 and Pregnant
OK, so the 2nd season of this docu-drama has been back for 2 weeks now, but I had to mention it seeing it’s the best thing on MTV since the (sob) season finale of Jersey Shore. I didn’t think it was possible, but there’s even more drama and annoying boyfriends than last season. (But, as of yet, no one that requires subtitles like Gary.) And now that there’s no ice dancing to watch, you can devote your Monday nights to these babies having babies.

The Office.
Speaking of babies, Pam and Jim’s baby will arrive on March 4th!

I never thought this day would come but, alas, it is here at last.
Oh TV, how I’ve missed you!

For the first ten years of my life, my answer to the ever-so-popular question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” was always “a mermaid.” I wasn’t joking, I did want to be a mermaid. Living in the sea, long flowing locks, a singing lobster for a BFF….

Another ten years have passed, and my growing appreciation for my two, separate, functioning legs has put my PhD in mermaid out of the question. College graduation is approaching and I am still questioning what I want to be “when I grow up.” I knew all along my answer would change (along with my major…twice), but only recently has it hit me that the question itself would change too.

It’s not only a question of “what I want to be when I grow up,” but the bigger question: WHEN am I grown up?! I know what it feels like to be happy, sad, angry, etc, but what does it feel like to be grown up? Will I just wake up one morning and feel different? Will I think to myself, oh, maybe I shouldn’t be wearing purple sparkly nail polish because I am a “grown-up?”

The spark of my revelation you ask? 16 and Pregnant. Forget NuvaRing, this reality show is my form of birth control. A new season is about to air (tonight!) and I can finally devote my Tuesdays to scaring myself out of becoming one of those girls. Great logic, or so I thought… until I realized it would be impossible; I can’t become one of them, I can never be in their situation because I am not 16. I am no longer at risk to face the perils of teenage pregnancy because of the obvious: I am not a teenager. However, the idea of randomly becoming pregnant is just as scary to me now as it was when I was 16. I do not feel any more ready to give birth now than I did when I had braces. I would still have a heart attack and possibly go in to cardiac arrest thinking about having to tell my parents of the news.

So when is the switch made? At what age will my mind-set change and I will consider the idea of pregnancy feasible, or even desirable? Or, at the very least, not something that gives me nightmares about trying to fit a crib into my teeny, tiny NYC apartment?

As someone who feels the need to have all of the answers, it is difficult to leave these questions unresolved, but the truth is that they are impossible to answer. Feeling grown up is not part of a math equation and there is no magic light switch to make it happen. Being grown up is having the ability to look back and realize how much you have changed. (Editor’s Note: And when you wake up at 11:30 on a Saturday and think about how much of the day has been wasted…)

In reality, I will probably not realize I am grown up until I am reading this article to my grandchildren explaining how I once posted it on a “website” on this thing we used to call the “internet” in the olden days. That is, if I ever grow up enough to have children.

In the end, as I analyze the situation I am starting to believe that at age 8, I was wise beyond my years. Maybe being a mermaid would have been the perfect solution; life would be much easier if my legs were sewn together.

Teen Mom. Yes, like most people, I am obsessed. I am still trying to figure out what Catelynn has that I don’t (besides braces, a trailer, and a 1995 JCPenny homecoming dress) that makes Tyler choose HER over me. SO unfair.

Throughout the years, MTV has thrown some bizarre ideas for reality shows our way. Some catch the attention of the nation while others fall through the cracks. While watching MTV (daily) I find myself screaming at the TV, “WHAT is the point of this show??” Entertainment value, usually. That is if you can call watching guys pick a date based on the underwear a girl has in her drawer, entertainment. (Thanks, Room Raiders). However, what about the shows that may have actually been created for a real reason?

Let’s rewind. Teen Mom. Yes, like most people, I am obsessed. I am still trying to figure out what Catelynn has that I don’t (besides braces, a trailer, and a 1995 JCPenny homecoming dress) that makes Tyler choose HER over me. SO unfair. But back to my point: as I watched the finale of Teen Mom last week and gear up for tonight’s reunion episode with Dr. Drew, I’m really starting to wonder what MTV was trying to do with this show.

Was it for entertainment value? Sure, listening to Gary recite a definition of the word “empathy” during the finale was extremely entertaining, but teen pregnancy is a huge issue; is MTV trying to take a stance? Are they trying to educate teens about the horrors of teen pregnancy? Maybe trying to prevent it? You would think by airing this show, MTV could position themselves as advocates to prevent teen pregnancy and use the show as an education tool, while also providing entertainment.

And if that was the intent, I have a couple issues with how it was seen through.

Personally, I did not find the show realistic. Throughout the season, Farrah was the only teen mom who did not have the baby’s father in the picture. I’m not implying that the other moms are leading ideal lives with their outstanding boyfriends, but Catelynn, Amber, and Maci all got pregnant by their boyfriend at the time. These were guys that they were having consensual sex with regularly. Although Gary and Ryan may go down in history as two of the worst boyfriends ever, throughout the season they are shown trying to make their relationships “work” in the best interest of their new child.

Farrah, on the other hand, although not with the father of her child, lives at home with her mother and father. It is evident that Farrah has grown up pretty fortunately and has an extremely comfortable living situation. The “hardships” Farrah faces include not being able to party with her friends all the time, and not being able to find a boyfriend who is ready to date a girl with a kid. Yes these things might be difficult for her, but in the scheme of teen pregnancy they are quite trivial. Her parents are always there to help out, and support her both emotionally and financially. The same is true for the rest of the teen moms on the show.

If MTV was trying to educate about teen pregnancy and the perils of dealing with it, why not show girls who are even less fortunate? What about the ones out there who are really on their own? There are plenty of girls who come from uneducated, broken families, who get pregnant and have no escape, and no chance at a better life. Some live their whole lives on welfare and in many cases do not know who the father is. My feeling is that MTV chose these specific moms because the typical viewer could relate to them better than a girl whose life has really been ruined by teen pregnancy. If this is the case, then why didn’t MTV even show how truly hard raising a child as a teenager is? There is not one clip throughout the whole season of one of the moms staying up the whole night with a crying baby, or cleaning up vomit. I don’t want to go as far as to say that MTV “glamorized” being a teen mom, but I don’t think the show will leave any viewers thinking “Oh my god, this CANNOT happen to me, I better take precaution.”

And speaking of precaution, MTV never hit on the topic of prevention. I don’t remember any of the girls being interviewed as to why birth control was not used during sex. Was it a one time slip-up with no condom? Too afraid to ask their parents? No resources? These questions never surfaced throughout the season. And furthermore, I find it extremely unrealistic to not mention abortion on the topic of teen pregnancy. The a-word was non-existent throughout the series, but in reality, it is an option. Most people have strong opinions on the subject, being either completely against it or for it. But just because it would have stirred up controversy, does that mean MTV should have ignored it completely? If they wanted to use their power to educate teens and lay all the options on the table, why wasn’t it even mentioned?

So besides making me fall in love with Tyler, what was MTV’s purpose in producing this show? Do you think they portrayed teen pregnancy realistically? Share your thoughts, peeps!

Last week, as I fired up the DVR to catch up on all the shows I'd missed from the week, I had a rather enlightening moment. Sorta like an Oprah "aha!" moment, only way more embarrassing. My entire DVR was taken up by reality shows. Top Chef, Project Runway, The Real Housewives, Ace of Cakes... Hell, I even had a little Real World/Road Rules Duel on there.

I know more about these women than I do about our forefathers.

Every Friday I head home from work, tear off my bra, put on my biggest pair of sweatpants, order in Pad Se Ew and settle in for a night of TV. Lame? Maybe. But get back to me after you’re working 60-hour weeks in the real world. Friday nights on the couch are sacred.

Last week, as I fired up the DVR to catch up on all the shows I’d missed from the week, I had a rather enlightening moment. Sorta like an Oprah “aha!” moment, only way more embarrassing. My entire DVR was taken up by reality shows. Top Chef, Project Runway, The Real Housewives, Ace of Cakes… Hell, I even had a little Real World/Road Rules Duel on there.

I looked around to make sure none of my neighbors could see my TV through the windows. I mean, I know I like me some crappy TV, but this was just mortifying. My entire life revolves around watching train wrecks on camera! But maybe it’s not that sad? I mean, everyone loves themselves a little trash now and then, right? Those shows are on for a reason. And some of them are actually really good! Maybe not anything on E!, but we can all learn a thing or two from The Biggest Loser, right?

Right?!?

To make myself feel better about my addiction (and my sad, lame life) I asked the CollegeCandy writers to share their reality TV faves this week. You know you got one, too. Share it in the comments!

Norah – Drake University: I’m obsessed with cake shows. I can’t deal with the drama of other reality shows, but I like to watch people make pretty cakes that look impossible to eat.

Brithny – Duke: So You Think You Can Dance, because of the amazing… dancing. Obvi.

Kim – Stanford: Life would be a little less complete without SAY YES TO THE DRESS on TLC. Who doesn’t love weddddings?!

Lauren H – The New School: Top Chef! I’m a big food nerd, so I watch a lot of the food-based contest shows, but Top Chef is by far the best. The only downside is I’m always hungry after!

Caitlin – University of Alabama: I love E!’s reality shows like Girls Next Door, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami. UGH but those Lamas…that’s 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back!

Charlsie – Hollins University: Keeping Up With The Kardashians is my favorite reality show because when Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney get into fights they refer to each other as “stupid bitch ass whores.” If it wasn’t for this show, my sister and I would have boring arguments. The Kardashians keep us fresh with insults and put-downs!

Laura – St. John’s: Rock of Love. I never tire of the varying extremes of trampy-ness these girls will go through to prove their love to Bret Michaels. (Really? Bret Michaels is the best you can do?)

Ricki – University of Michigan: The Bachelor/Bachelorette – It’s impossible to not believe in true love when every date they have is jet skiing in Hawaii or being alone on a deserted island.

Thu – USC: The City, if it is even considered “reality.” You kind of live a fabulous life vicariously through the people.

Leah – Ryerson University: What Not to Wear and Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style because everyone should feel fabulous about the way they look.

Anna R. – Northeastern University: My favorite reality show is The City. I didn’t watch the first season, but now I’m obsessed with it. It’s SO much better than The Hills (which is really lame and pointless now), and the girls’ jobs are actually interesting to watch. Plus, I love seeing what they are all wearing!

Kiki – University of Missouri: I spent at least nine hours of my life this summer watching 16 and Pregnant marathons on MTV. It’s like True Life mixed with Maury mixed with the best damn abstinence education ever.

Samantha – UC Santa Barbara: VH1’s Tough Love! The women are such train wrecks that it’s hard not to watch! Best of all, no one gets kicked off, so your favorite tranny look-alike is there every week for your viewing pleasure. Watch as these women work through their “daddy issues” and try to find love. Priceless quotes to throw around with the roomies guaranteed.

Sarabeth – University of Texas: I may or may not have seen every episode of Say Yes to the Dress. I mean, come on, really expensive and really pretty dresses mixed with a few horrible women with bad taste? It’s Amazing!

Hillary – Columbia: I watch a ton of awful television, but my favorite reality show will always be Man Vs. Beast, a two-hour special aired by Fox in 2003. In it, people competed against animals in a variety of competitions—a sprinter raced a giraffe, a Sumo wrestler had a tug-of-war with an orangutan, and, maybe best of all, competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi had a hot dog eating contest with a bear. Seriously. Just watch a few clips. They’re amazing.

Erica – Kent State University: The Rachel Zoe Project. LIT-ERALLY, I love watching Rachel (aka The-Walking-Panic-Attack) & Taylor (aka The-Five-Year-Old-Who-Somehow-Made-It-Into-The-Fashion-Biz) go BANANAS. Seriously, Rachel has influenced my closet and my vocab. LOVE her.

Kelly- Simmons College: I love the Real Housewives. My roommate and I watch the end-of-season marathons and get completely hooked for 12 hours about people we don’t like and don’t actually care about. What other show can do that?

Zahra- Northwestern University: Lately I’ve been obsessed with Tool Academy. It’s hilarious when the guys break things or get into fights to show off their manliness, but also brings me to tears when I see girls finding out about their guys’ infidelities.

Alex – Lakehead University: My favourite (yes, Canadian spelling!) reality show is Paranormal State on A&E. College students who moonlight as ghost hunters?! I’m in! Plus this show features some very unique stories, like the demon that follows them through several episodes. I’m hooked!

Jasmin – University of Missouri: HGTV’s House Hunters. Strange, I know, but it’s addictive. When I leave Mizzou for the real world, I’ll be ready to remodel my dream home.
