Yesterday, hilarious 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin was kicked off an American Airlines flight for not turning off his cell phone while on the plane. Instead, he continued to play the very popular game “Words With Friends.” Personally, I don’t blame Mr. Baldwin for keeping his game going because I assume he was about to get a triple word score on the word “zany.” Who can delay that kind of satisfaction until you’re 30,000 feet in the air? Like Alec Baldwin, I think that getting kicked off a plane for a playing a game of “Words With Friends” is completely worth it. In the spirit of plane debauchery, I have compiled a list of a few things people do that are definitely worth and not worth getting kicked off a plane for.

The list of Golden Globe Nominees was announced today, and though there were no major surprises, I love pretty much anyone who’s got a shot at winning an award. And that, friends, is an exciting prospect for my 2011 TV schedule. So while I was making a mental food-shopping list for award night (Tostitos, Diet Coke, twizzlers…hey, January 16th isn’t that far off!), I really got to thinking, “How amazing would it be if I could actually go to the Golden Globes?” And because that just wasn’t enough, I thought, “What if I could go and pick who sat at my table!?”

Granted I would never pull out the chips and salsa in front of my A-List buddies, but I think a night of forgoing junk food would be well worth it if I got to watch the awards next to these fabulous people…

Ryan Gosling, nominated for Blue Valentine
Could I have made a more obvious selection? Well, probably…keep reading my list. But come on! Not only did be become the dreamy lead male for our generation in The Notebook, but bro has also rocked a number of darker roles, too. Blue Valentine is the perfect storm of sexy and slightly disturbing, and I definitely want to ask dear Ryan about the controversial sex scene he did with Michelle Williams. I mean, maybe he can even illustrate a few of the finer points…who knows. Actors take their craft very seriously, so I think he’d be all for a little hands-on demonstration.

Alec Baldwin, nominated for 30 Rock
Did someone order a dirty old man? Alec’s the guy who will be staring at your boobs, assaulting his children on the phone during commercial breaks, making vulgar comments about women…and we’ll love him all the more for it. Oddly enough, even in his current paunchy, graying physique, he’s still kinda hot. There, I said it.

Mila Kunis, nominated for Black Swan
Because who would want Natalie Portman aka “Miss Harvard-Degree-I’m-so-pretty-but-down-to-earth-your-boyfriend-totally-wants-to-bang-me” sitting at their table? Where Natalie is all intimidation and highbrow jokes, I get the feeling Mila’s a little more laid back. Have you ever seen That 70s Show or Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Shit’s funny. Like really funny! Plus she’s smart and completely beautiful (but not at all showy about it) and she’s been in a relationship with Macaulay Culkin since forever…the perfect wing-woman when you’re hanging out with Hollywood’s leading men!

Emma Stone, nominated for Easy A
Let’s go crazy and make the dream team of Actresses I Wish I Was Friends With. In case Superbad didn’t do it for you, who after seeing Easy A wouldn’t want to hang out with Emma Stone? I can see it now: we’re watching the awards, plotting which after parties we’re going to get drunk at, teasing Mila for dating the kid from Home Alone. By the end of the night, we’ll be trading BFF necklaces and going for regular Starbucks dates.

Jon Hamm, nominated for Mad Men
Every table needs the classically handsome, brooding, mysterious guy and Jon can be ours! Will he pull a Don Draper and drown his inner turmoil with scotch and silence? Or will he be the adorable doctor who smells like frosting from 30 Rock? I don’t know and I don’t care because Jon Hamm is a babe!

Jake Gyllenhaal, nominated for Love and Other Drugs
He needs to be at my table. Not because of his dreamy blue eyes, not because his sister is awesome, not because I hope he’ll do that cute crooked little half smile that just melts my heart. No. I need him around for one thing. So I can take off my sparkly Louboutin, hit him over the head with it, and ask (beg, really) why, WHY Taylor Swift!? Jake, I love you. But the list of reasons why you shouldn’t be dating Taylor is endless. Ugh!

Johnny Depp, nominated for The Tourist and Alice in Wonderland
Two nominations in one category? Mr. Depp will absolutely be in a good mood come Golden Globe night. And if his good moods are anything like Jack Sparrow’s, I want to be seated right next to his swashbuckling amazingness. Should he want to go for joy rides on his yacht after the awards, I’d also be down for that. Just sayin’.

Jane Lynch, nominated for Glee
For nothing else than her personal commentary of the evening. It would be like watching two awards shows at the same time – her version, and everyone else’s. Can we really afford to miss out on her biting humor, endless wit, and troves of insider celebrity gossip?

Angelina Jolie, nominated for The Tourist
We need Mom around to keep us all in line. Having a brood of Cheetos-loving little ragers at home, hopefully she’ll know how to reign us in when Alec (the bad dad) and Jane (the cool aunt) egg on the funny business and collective immaturity. And maybe, just maybe, between calming everyone down and taking calls from an adoption agency in Malawia, she’ll fall madly in love with Johnny Depp so Brad and Jen can happen again. Shoot me for rooting for true love!!!

Alec Baldwin may be following in Steve Carrell’s footsteps once his contract expires in 2012. During an interview with CNN, Baldwin admits he is over show business and would love to have a more simple life.

“As much as I like acting, I know that I would love to have a different life, a private life. I think doing this now for a living has become really hard. It’s really hard,” Baldwin said.

“I would rather go do other things and have whatever amount of time I have left in my life, have more of a normal life… I want to find out if it’s possible. How close can I get,” Baldwin added.

If I can speak for most undergrads, we dread graduation day more than the apocalypse itself. It means leaving college and entering the real world, where it won’t be acceptable to beer bong in broad daylight on the roof of a frat house or blow off all your responsibilities to watch an entire season of the Office in bed.

Although the whole “graduating” thing sucks in theory, there’s always a lot of excitement surrounding the commencement speaker (or controversy, if you remember the whole Obama at Notre Dame debacle…). A good speaker can trick you into thinking this isn’t the worst day of your life inspire you to look ahead to the future and all the possibilities that lay ahead (if they’re a huge success, why can’t you be!?). And a bad speaker will allow you a good 45-minute power nap.

So who will be inspired come graduation day and who will be snoozing in their caps and gowns? Here is a list of some serious commencement speaker heavy hitters and the lucky seniors who get to listen to ‘em:

1. University of Michigan – BARACK OBAMA!
Imagine how proud you’d be of your college experience when the freakin’ PRESIDENT of the United States comes to speak at your graduation ceremony!? Everyone knows the man’s got charisma and can work a crowd, and the class of 2010 will definitely remember this for the rest of their lives!

2. NYU – Alec Baldwin
Three words: hot. older. man. Everyone and their mother (literally) will be drooling over him, and if they can pay attention to what he has to say at the same time, I’m sure it will be both hilarious (hello, did you not see him on the Oscars last night) and inspirational. This funny guy is the perfect choice for a commencement speaker. I knew I shoulda gone to NYU…

3. Vassar College – Lisa Kudrow
Could you get a cooler commencement speaker than Phoebe from Friends? I think not. The Emmy winner actually graduated from Vassar in 1985 with a Biology degree and will return to deliver the 2010 commencement address. I’m sure she’ll be delivering inspirational advice in between cracking jokes, and will have the audience doubled over in laughter. I just hope she whips out a guitar and performs a little “Smelly Cat.”

4. Tulane University – Anderson Cooper
Is it me, or does Tulane have all the luck? First Ellen, now Anderson Cooper!? Cooper is one of the most intelligent and fascinating (not to mention strikingly handsome – hellooo, silver fox) people on the news. He actually makes me want to watch it. And his presence at Tulane will certainly hit close to home for a lot of students due to his emotional coverage of the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans. I don’t know about you, but this is definitely the man I’d want sending me out into the real world.

5. Harvard – David Souter
For those law geeks out there like me, this is pretty damn cool. Souter served 9 years as a Supreme Court Justice, meaning he had a hand in creating and interpreting laws and precedents that will hold for years to come. I imagine those Harvard students will be both educated and fascinated by what this powerful man has to say.

6. Worcester Polytechnic Institute – Curt Schilling
As the only man to ever pitch World Series games across three decades (his 20′s, 30′s and 40′s) I’d say he’s pretty impressive. He lead the Phillies to the World Series in ’03 and won the World Series with the Diamondbacks in 2001 and the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and 2007. But beyond those insane accomplishments, Schilling is just a great role model, using his fame to help multiple charities, as well as his own cause, Curt’s Pitch for ALS. Even though I admittedly hate the Phillies and the Red Sox, Schilling is someone I’d love to listen to come graduation day.

We know your usual drinking habits tend to favor your wallet instead of your taste buds, but there’s something about The Oscars and Natty Ice that just don’t mix.  It’s a glamorous event so it requires a glamorous (drinking) menu. We found two cocktails worthy of this red carpet, so invite the girls over and wow them with a few of these:

Champagne Hotel California Cocktails
- 1 ounce tequila
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 2 ounces mandarin orange juice
- Top it all off with Champagne

Show off your bartending skills:
Mix the tequila and juices with ice. Strain into a serving glass of your choice. Add in Champagne and cheers!

Peppermint Patty Martini
-1 ounce vodka
-1 ounce chocolate liqueur (such as Godiva Chocolate liqueur)
-1 ounce peppermint Schnapps
-Peppermint stick or peppermint and chocolate reception stick

Show off your bartending skills:
Blend the vodka, chocolate liqueur and peppermint schnapps with crushed ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour into a frosted martini glass and garnish with a peppermint candy stick.

Want to throw in a game to make it more exciting? (Lord knows the fun starts to fade after three martinis and a few long-winded acceptance speeches…) Have everyone come early and throw down $10. Then set up a spreadsheet where everyone has to choose the winners in every single category (or even just the biggies). Watch the show, find out who has the most picks right and the winner gets the entire pot!

This Sunday, the 82nd Annual Academy Awards will air at 8 p.m. on ABC! We at CollegeCandy are obviously super excited for all the usual reasons: red carpet fashion, trying to predict the winners (will anything actually beat Avatar?) and of course, an excuse to put on a cocktail dress and drink on a Sunday.

But this year’s Oscar show has even more awesome-ity (yeah, we’re making up new words over here) to be excited about:

1. HOTTIES.
I’ll shamelessly admit that 90% of the reason I watch the Oscars is that hot guys look even hotter in formalwear. This year it seems that a disproportionate amount of hotties are nominated- George Clooney, Colin Firth, Jeremy Renner, Matt Damon…no matter who takes home the awards, I think the night will be a win-win in terms of eye candy.

2. The Best Actress Award
Lots of hype is surrounding this category this year, and rightfully so. Will it be seasoned veteran Meryl Streep for Julie and Julia? Sandra Bullock for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blindside? Or newcomer Gabourey Sidibe for her groundbreaking role in Precious? All of these lovely leading ladies are deserving, so it’ll be a nail-biter to see who takes home the gold.

3. Brangelina
With rumors of a split constantly showing up in the tabloids, it’ll be interesting to see how they appear together on the red carpet. Or if they even show up! Everyone wants to see what Angelina will be wearing (aka how flawless she’ll look), and if Brad is still sporting that fugly facial hair. Most importantly, will they give Ryan Seacrest the interview he missed out on last year?

4. The Hosts
This year, the Oscars will be hosted by funny guy Steve Martin and hot-older-guy Alec Baldwin. Both of whom I have inexplicable crushes on. Since Martin has hosted twice before (and earned an Emmy nom for it!) and Baldwin hasn’t, it’ll be the perfect mix of experience and fresh personality. And honestly, it’s Alec Freakin’ Baldwin; if he brings half of his 30 Rock humor to the stage it will be a very successful show.

5. The Situation?
I know the Academy Awards are a classy event (i.e. it’s not okay to lift up your shirt on the red carpet), but you never know! The Jersey Shore cast has so far been invited to the Grammy’s and New York Fashion Week, both being completely irrelevant to them, so it might not surprise me to see them at the Oscars. I know I’ll be lookin’ out for Snooki’s pouf and a six pack of abs before the show.

The world is shocked and devastated.
