Oh the joys of summer – sunshine, beaches, the end of school, sandals… and of course, rising hemlines!
As the temperature starts to rise, it’s time to bare those legs, soak up a little vitamin D (just make sure to wear sunscreen!), and enjoy the lovely weather. Sure, you could wear shorts, but then you gotta deal with that whole “thighs rub together and shorts ride up” situation. Plus, skirts are way more fun, and a cuter, flirtier way to show off those gams.
So enjoy the start of summer with a skirt. Here are 16 perfectly adorable options to choose from. Just remember, knees together when you’re getting out of the car. No one needs to see you pull a Britney! Read More »

Fashion Week and all its bittersweet glory has come and gone. The last Fashion Week to be shown at Bryant Park, designers pulled out all of the tricks under their sleeves to make it unforgettable. The big white tents, made even whiter by the snow, brought new looks into the new decade that will be sure to translate into your wardrobe. So what will you be wearing next fall? Read More »

Fashion Week, a sort-of welcome week for the rich and stylish, has come to an end. Come tomorrow, a construction crew will be taking the tents at Bryant Park down, models will hop on planes to London and editors will finally get more than three hours of sleep per night. This week’s had it all: appearances by D-List Celebrities (hello, Kelly Bensimon,) crazy parties (Alexander Wang rented out a gas station) and clothes, clothes, clothes. Ready to stock your closet for spring?
Here are the top trends for Spring 2010: Read More »

September is one of my favorite months for many reasons: Back-to-school, Labor Day, Lil’ Wayne’s Birthday, Starbucks’s Pumpkin Spice Lattes and, of course, Fashion Week. Fashion Week is actually a misnomer; instead of a week, it is a month-long event full of runway shows, presentations and parties that starts in good ol’ NYC, and then travels to London, Milan and Paris.
Don’t know your Marc Jacobs from your Calvin Klein? If the only designers you know hail from Project Runway or Go! International lines at Target, listen up. Here are five hot designers whose work has them poised to become the next Oscars de la Renta and Diane von Furstenbergs.
Grab a bib and get ready to drool. Read More »

Have you ever wondered what he really thinks about the stuff you wear? So have I, and that’s why I’ve compiled a panel of guys willing to share their opinions on certain “fashionable” items weekly.
I know you weren’t too thrilled about my outfit choice last week; I get it. This week we won’t have to debate the merits of too-expensive designer gear because, luckily, this Fall it’s all about affordable designer collaborations like Anna Sui for Target, Max Azria for Walmart and Christian Siriano for Payless. Yes, I said Payless. As in, Payless where you used to get your penny-loafers and light up sneakers as a kid. That Payless. I must admit – I was skeptical at first, but with Christian Siriano behind it, how can I expect it to be anything less than “fierce”? Read More »

I’m going to be honest here: the only reason why I’m posting this hyphen-dress is because I desperately want it. Imagine this with some killer black booties. Sigh. So, as the selfish person that I am, I’m exploiting my column to find out what my guys would think if I ever got the guts (or the cash!- we’re talking Alexander Wang, man. He made my future wedding gown Mrs. Obama’s inauguration dress!) to wear something like this outside. Read More »

Most guys we know stay up late dreaming of the day they might end up in a giant orgy with beautiful women. We, however, lie awake at night dreaming of a closet full of beautiful clothes. To the left, a wall of shoes. To the right, shelf upon shelf of delicately handcrafted bags organized by color and size.
Sigh.
We all have our fantasies.
Since guys can turn to the interwebs to get their daily fantasy fix, we thought you should, too! So, we’re bringing you some fashion porn. The best of the best in all things fashionable. Sure, it may be out of your price range, but it’s a fantasy, so live it up in all its delicious glory.
The t-shirt is arguably the most versatile item of clothing in a college girl’s closet. Though they originated as undershirts, the tee has come along way. Now it’s the perfect item for any occasion, whether you are picking up boys at the bar or rolling out of bed 5 minutes before class. T-shirts are no fuss, they don’t require ironing, and go with jeans, skirts and sweats!
Whether you are trying to make a statement, stand out from the crowd, or blend in to a lecture hall, there is a t-shirt out there for you. Want to hit the bar without looking like you tried too hard? Jeans and a t-shirt. Want to go casual cool when meeting up with the girls? Add a blazer and some choice accessories. Want to look uber chic for a martini party? Tuck a tee into a high waisted skirt and hit the town in those gladiator heels. You can also show off your love for 80s pop stars or subtly declare your love for College Candy without ever saying a word. Read More »

Once upon a time, khaki was used strictly for military uniforms. That time has come and gone, and while the word khaki is derived from a word meaning ‘dusty’, it doesn’t have to look drab. Gap has revolutionized this fabric with their latest CFDA Design Collection that hits stores this week. Hot designers, such as Alexander Wang and Vena Cava, made this drab fabric fab-u-lous.
While you should run (not walk) to the Gap to pick up these amazing pieces, if you miss out, don’t fear — many other retailers are also offering fashion-forward khaki pieces this spring. And there is a khaki item for everyone – whether you need shoes, skirts, shorts or a new dress. You can fill your closet with many perfect khaki items this season, no matter what your price range. In the past few years, ripped jeans have taken over the Abercrombie/American Eagle world and have now moved to high fashion, being featured on recent Alexander Wang and Martin Margiela runways. Since even the biggest fashionistas are now embracing the trend, I figure I might as well jump on the bandwagon.
Imagine my surprise when I went shopping for a pair of ripped jeans only to find that they were priced about $20 more than their unripped counterparts! Now this just seemed wrong to me; I’m getting holey jeans that are bound to fall apart faster, but I’m paying more? It’s a bit backwards if you ask me. Read More »
